Unfortunately for Sky, I think this is too little, too late.

Some of us got sick of their way of watching TV and found other means and now we are not used to seeing adverts, so going back to pay sky £60+ per month AND receive adverts at the same time? No way in hell.

Like shaithis I'm sick to my back teeth of Sky and their poor value offering, they've not moved with the times and as soon as my contract is up, they and their crappy box is getting kicked in to touch.

The downside is the hammering of your wifi signal in at the same time.

I have a spare router that I might set up so that it uses a different network.

The whole caboodle sounds like it is powerline network enabled now, which is OK for your non-mobile watching equipment.

Hey they stole my HTPC setup.

My HTPC has 6 tuners (4 freeview HD and 2 freesat HD), these are then shared with other boxes wirelessly it also shares all my music, photos and recorded TV.

Yes I only have 6 tuners but I have not found a need for more.

I will say the advantage of having the aerial/satellite only coming in at one point and not needing to drill more holes and run wires to have the same in other room is great.

One thing... my setup has no monthly fee...

Not quite... a whole new way of watching TV would be seeing with your elbows, or something!!

We have pretty much all of this available already, don't we? Just need a bit of kit and the right software download (if it doesn't already come free with the device).

I guess this is aimed at the less tech savvy, those that wouldn't know how to build their own system, or don't have the knowledge of where to find 'alternative' sources for their viewing.
It sounds like a great system, but I am very suspicious of it joining their line-up, that means they will charge extra, like they already charge an extra £10 to watch a program in HD. It really winds me up... You are paying your subscription to watch the program(s) anyway, but when you watch it in HD you obviously aren't going to watch it in SD simultaneaously, so why is it costing extra? I've already complained to sky... afterall, Virgin don't charge extra for HD.

Sky TV = football + (package to keep wife happy so you can get the football)

Always has been and will be until they lose most Premiership matches.

Wonder if the wifi hot spots use the same channel as repeaters or use different channels? It getting harder and harder to find decent free channels (With no interference from other channels) nowadays - even on n/ac...

Personally as it involves Murdock i'm out. Plenty happy enough with bbc and netflix.

Uhhh huhn.

And would that be in the sense that my up to 16Mb never gets above 4Mb.

Some of the features are fairly attractive, but to be honest, I'd rather buy extra kit and do it myself than buy Sky kit if, as before, they try to use it to lock you in.

Too little, too late, and that's before I see pricing.

They have to charge for HD so they can pay TV companies to not release the HD stream on freeview/freesat, ie no channel 5 HD on freeview/freesat is a joke.

In short sky buy things then then hold them to ransom, people pay said ransom so they use the money to buy more things to hold or ransom.

As an F1 fan (and not football fan) the cost for me to watch the F1 live is £45 a month to pay for a load of stuff I don't want plus half an F1 season (get the other half on BBC as the coverage is better as the commentary team don't think its a horse race). So I just watch the highlights or watch at my mother in laws.

I have SMART TV's .. why do I need a STB ?
