"There's obviously no support for 4K displays because AMD doesn't yet support 4K60 over HDMI"
I wonder if the new Display Port to HDMI 2.0 adapters, announced with the Radeon Software Crimson Edition driver package, support FreeSync?
Wololololololo FreeSync over HDMI 1.2.... etc!! NVIDIA will run and hide coz the only thing new I hear from them is pascal
Don't see why they even bothered with freesync over HDMI.
If you have a free sync monitor you most likely bought it specifically for that feature and knowing you would not be using HDMI anyway.
So who does this really benefit other than AMD's marketing department.
Not saying it's useless but it's not exactly a earth shattering development.
And yes, I have an AMD card, a R9 390.
If AMD can do this on existing cards, presumably Intel can implement it as well??
Where's Displayport 1.3 got to then? Has it been implemented anywhere, on anything yet?

HDMI is a mess. HDMI 2.0 does not support the full color range and ot has 4k bandwidth issues.
DisplayPort is far superior and FreeSync is well FREE as opposed to G-$ink costing you money.
Besides ONLY AMD has Asynchronous Compute and Asynchronous Shader Pipelines. That is IP and NVidia can only try and EMULATE that with software. Intel is completely behind the curve on this.
So is this using HDMI's ethernet capability which AFAIK has never been implemented in commercial equipment ?
Dell?
