I don't mind an optional subscription that helps support your favourite youtubers directly and has a few added benefits like no ads etc but holding exclusive content against people that can't afford it is just unfair and to be honest, is just going to end up in piracy.
Fair has got nothing to do with it. Google are a business first and foremost. Removing the free Google Apps subscriptions for education (and charities?) might be deemed unfair (it's not, but lots wouldn't be happy), but there's nothing wrong with charging people for exclusive content, not when you've got the likes of Netflix and Amazon as competitors.
That said I'm not even a little bit tempted judging by the previews. And I don't think it will work in the long term either (like most of Google's experiments). If it were £3 a month or something then I might have been tempted to try it in a few months if the was content improved, but that content for £120 a year? Sod that, I've got more important stuff to buy.
