Also known as TL-WPA4530 KIT, is this the remedy for complete network coverage?

The AV2/gigabit powerline adapters seem to get around 300Mbps in real word tests from what I've read on various sites. Those are what I'd look to replace my existing ones with when the time comes (only need them for one room, can't hard wire it like the rest of them!)

Have pair of TP-LINK AV500, unfortunately they stopped recognizing network, nothing I can do.. tried all powerline sockets in house no connection between those two... Worked for month good, then in one day just stopped.
Not reliable way of data transmitting IMHO...

Is there any passthrough manufacturer other than TP-Link? I I've had 3 different sets, in 4 different houses. Every time I have suffered random dropouts that require the device to be reset.

To make matters worse, I tried a firmware 'upgrade' from their website, which, from what I can tell, was actually an older version (despite it not be labelled as such on the site). And now the software can't read the device to do a reset from there.

Direct into wall socket and don't use an extension with surge protection as that will cause the dropouts

    Don't waste your time.

Cable up your house and use Ubiquiti access points where you want Wifi.

    Do it properly, once.

-For the cabled devices, true gigabit speed. Not some over estimated number plucked from the air.

You can only do that if you own a house though- try doing that in rental and you'll be in trouble

I've cabled up a few rooms, each of which has a wifi access point but one of them is logistically difficult to reach (it would involve cutting holes in the ceiling and channelling the walls), so I use powerline in that one.

It bugs me that the ethernet ports are on the top of the devices. Ethernet cables do not float, they fall to the floor.

How many power plugs work in this way?

Quite a few if you look about. And yes the rental problem is very real and having used tp-link kit before it's pretty solid to be fair. I do have an earlier version of this and whilst not great in real world speed it's better than no wi-fi

In that case there is an issue somewhere in your wiring mate. Perhaps get an electrician in to test continuity or find out if something else is wired incorrectly

    Re: TP-Link AV500 Powerline ac Wi-Fi Kit

If you own the property, have the time and can be bothered, you cannot beat wired. If (like me) you live in rental property then it becomes difficult to get away with wiring up the whole flat without having cables lying around everywhere.

I left the BT Modem near the socket to maximise the potential speed, pulled a few wires between there and the cupboard near the front door (which is where my servers and router are) and had every intention of actually trying to wire up the rest of the flat, but after trying out the home plugs (originally just TP link 500 ones) and finding them more than sufficient, I upgraded to Devolo 1200 ones (which have a passthrough, one of them with AC WIFI) and they have been rock solid. I now use the TP link ones in less bandwidth critical areas such as for my bedroom streaming box. They connected up to the devolo powerline network without any issue.
The Wifi on the Devolo is so good I have been considering getting another lesser model to handle B/G/N traffic and switching off the questionable plusnet supplied router Wifi in preparation for a full PFSense switchover.
If I ping the router I get 1-2ms.
The Devolo software tells me the connection is 700-800Mbit/s
Transferring files goes at around 25-35MB/s depending on what mood my server is in that day

I still have my gaming PC and anything else that really needs the bandwidth wired up but quite honestly, if you have modern wiring and your requirements aren't heavy, there is no reason to go through the hassle of wiring up the whole house.

I second that, Ubiquiti make excellent kit and price is very good too. If you have range issues, use one of their long range models.
