This already smells like Nintendo DeadplatformmkII.
Have to agree. I had hope for the NX, then I saw this. Its like the Wii U controller with the good aspects removed.
That does not look pleasant to hold.
Check the link to the patent.
This looks to me like the removable mini-controller segment for mobile gaming, which then fits into the main controller body (like the front on a car stereo) for use on a home system.
It has some kind of touch display screen, which the drawings suggest will have variable/customisable/game-specific control icons like a mobile phone game.
RAM, wireless comms module, flash memory, touch panel, CPU, display and touch panel are all components in the schematic, as well as a Help guide.
It even has a Browser - Pretty informative, these patent things!!
He means the Dreamcast Visual Memory Unit https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VMU.
ugly-strange-uncomfortable-delicate controller, now I have given up and just waiting for the console itself to see the specs and if it will be faster than PS4 kudos!
That looks about as ergonomic as a brick...
I'm pretty sure this is complete rubbish in pure Reddit form.
We'll get a post from Nintendo telling us that they've been deliberately misled by such posts and that they're just going to concentrate on making powerful consoles with great games and a much-more-standardised controller, à la Xbox One.
Then we'll look at the 1st April post date and sigh, realising that Nintendo is still determined to keep away lots of gamers who might otherwise have gone for it.
I know this sounds awfully pessimistic, but it's what I've come to except from Nintendo of late. The Wii is the last Nintendo console I'm likely to own at this rate, as there's no incentive for me to buy the Wii U whatsoever.
To be honest, I wish someone would just buy Nintendo now. I'd prefer that it be Valve, as it'd be a coup for their Steam machines and would enable Nintendo gaming on Windows, Linux and Mac, but I'd begrudgingly accept Microsoft too. Heck, even Sony would do a better job currently!
Of course, if we add Valve Time to Nintendo's own ability to sit on properties for years without using them (*cough* F-Zero *cough*), then it could be a recipe for disaster.
The pictures have been admitted to be a hoax - but the Nintendo patents information, showing this style of controller, still hold water, of course.
