Funny, I could have sworn that there was a strong demand for a return to WW2 shooters.
The problem with COD (IMO) is not the setting, its the utterly mundane copy/paste story lines in single player and the obsession with unlocking customisation and weapons that are barely different to one another. Customisation should be secondary to involved and competitive game play and I haven't felt that this is the case in COD for a long time.
The whole, 'dedicated servers' and 'mod tools' issues on PC releases haven't helped them, they alienated a huge part of their loyal crowd back in the COD:MW2 days. Basically COD is the prime example of a game played by kids who's parents ignore the age rating.
CoD = Hold down W. Hold down left-mouse button.
Fun.
Doesn't excite me at all.
Why do they keep bothering ?
So.. Shattered Horizon?
COD:MW was the last in the franchise I played. I completed it 3 times, twice on the hardest difficulty it was that good, just as all the previous ones were. MoH was the same.
I don't even bother anymore no matter what is released. Follow yellow diamond, shoot baddies, awful cutscene, yellow diamond, etc is dull.
"Reality is what it is, not what you want it to be." Frank Zappa. ----------- "The invisible and the non-existent look very much alike." Huang Po.----------- "A drowsy line of wasted time bathes my open mind", - Ride.
I really loved that game, it's a shame the development dribbled away and they took too long to release content to keep parties interested.
Shattered horizon was a real brain masher as you had the full 3 planes of movement in a momentum driven Zero G environment, weapons caused recoil that moved you around and you had to time thruster burns to counteract it or make yourself a sitting duck by magnetising onto debris.
Many a time I was tracking someone and shooting while moving and went splat into debris or flying off into space. You had to unlearn a lot of things to play that game properly
It was brilliant...
sounds like a boring title
will you be able to shut the sodding music off?
Havent bothered with COD for ages now. Same game different setting = Boring.
Pretty much my opinion - I used to count myself as CoD Fan Boy, (always pre-ordered and sometimes had the game on more than one platform), but the campaign modes (the only part I play) have been getting pretty shoddy. For example, at the end of Ghosts I was hoping that the "evil brainwashed villain" would have just shot the "hero" and ended it. When I needed to save space on my Apps disk, CoD was the first thing removed. Strange though that I still play CoD's 2 & 4.
Maybe I'm being overly sentimental but it seems that the stories with Captain Price etc in them were better than the current ones. Although the mechanics on MW3 (latest one) are actually pretty decent, but paper thin plot doesn't encourage me to play.
CoD the cash cow that keeps on giving... Last one I played was Black Ops. Was enjoyable at the time.
Prefer BF since Bad Company 2.
