"Turn on encryption and these figures aren't heavily impacted; 112.97MB/s in reading and 93.73MB/s in writing" - not *that* heavy a penalty, especially for reading. Is this a typo (or possibly the unencrypted figures)?

Annoyingly not long (2 months or so) picked up a DS415+. No complaints as it's an awesome bit of kit and picked it for a very specific reason.
Nothing major changed and don't plan to use it for streaming or transcoding.

Synology you gits! - Just bought a 415+ two months ago too, well pee'd off that they've already phased it out! - The 415+ was only out about a year before they brought this thing out

The UI is the same on all models (all models that run DSM 6). If you don't like the fans, you can swap them out for Noctuas.

I so want a 4 or more bay NAS, for setting up a RAID 5 system with my video/audio library. I'm going to have to look at this a little closer.
