My better half has the first one plus and she has always loved it. (Still does)
She checked out the VR launch of the new phone last night and was very under whelmed by it (both the VR experience and the phone).
We just seem to be getting to the stage were all phones are roughly the same spec and there isn't much to differentiate between one flag ship phone and the next. That's not a complaint I'm leveling specifically at OnePlus as this is industry wide. The only thing that is different to others is the fact it uses OxygenOS.
I've had a whole slew of phones over the years, but ultimately been onboard the Samsung wagon since the S2. My wife likes the Apple Handsets.
Personally I think this is certainly more than good enough to be a great phone for those that don't need to pose with the Brand such as apple. Worth saving £300 for I reckon
I always curious as to where the price cuts come for these phones. There's got to be something missing somewhere when you have a phone like the S7 at £600 and this at half the price..
The common tech specs can't be showing the whole story and I don't believe Samsung would give themselves that much of a profit margin if there was potential to undercut the competition.
The OPO had some issues with the touch screen not working properly in warm weather on some manufacturing lots, due to cheap adhesive used. Safe to say if the specs are good and the price is cheap, build quality is what took the hit. As to whether its enough of a hit that you'll ever encounter trouble with it depends on the user though.
Anyway, a nice phone but not for me, primarily because of the lack of MicroSD. I'm gradually switching over to cloud storage for non-personal files but right now I still very much need MicroSD capability.
Advertising, software development, research and I guess because they can.
There's a slew of Chinese handsets out with potent specs for a fraction of even the OnePlus 3, and Huawei makes the P9 (basically a Nexus 6P with Huawei software rather than stock Android) for not too far north of this.
I ordered one today. Looking forward to it.
Actually it looks very nice for the price. I'll wait to see some reviews and might get one, cuz mine is 4y.o.
Tbh, the OnePlus Two wasn't amazing* (owned two as the first got put through the wash) but that was mainly down to temperature issues and the Oxygen OS being terrible. I loved the OPO with a passion and when I upgraded I gave it to my dad to replace his S4 Mini and he hasn't looked back.
If they can get Oxygen OS to be vastly better than what it is now/get Cyanogen Mod then happy days
*by amazing I mean as game breaking as the OPO

Here's a reliable review for you:

I think also a lot of the cheapness in the phones also comes from the modular nature of the components and Shenzen manufacturing/assembly process which allows for a phone to be "designed" & manufactured in as little as 3-4 months. However it also means that many of the phones look remarkably similar to each other but have a different mix of components inside. I.e. all the current slew of Chinese landfill phones (although I dont think they can called this anymore) all have aluminium bodies and all look alike which means the raw components such as bodies and PCB's can manufactured extremely cheaply and on a truly massive scale.
have a look at the following phones and you'll soon see glaring similarities in design. Umi Super, Elephone 9000, Verneer Apollo, One+3 etc etc.
Well one reason that I see is the lack of Ads, how often do you see a One Plus ad on anywhere but the internet? While Samsung or other Flagship phones have huge ads everywhere the Oneplus lacks in that department. I've yet to see a one plus one ad anywhere, but on their Youtube channel, Facebook or Twitter.
I ordered one too & look forward to its arrival.
don't really care about specs for my phone. more important is build quality, aesthetics, and how they adapt the Android version. price important too. as long as it works it's fine, phones are for convenience, rarely need any power. games and stuff are pointless on phones.
I know it's future proofing, but who really needs a 6gb phone? The market has been saturated with 'generally good enough' hardware for a while.
It seems good value though, still, especially for those who use it more than a PC.

Be Careful on the Internet! I ran and tackled a drive by mining attack today. It's not designed to do anything than provide fake texts (say!)
It is profit margin. Samsung has cheaper phones that are as close to this one as can be and they sell at around the same price. Samsung has jumped on the Apple bandwagon and the public at large has been bamboozled into believing that the price determines the quality of high end phones. We are being ripped when a mobile device sells for the same price as a 50 inch flatscreen multimedia TV. But each to his own, if you can justify it and have the cash or take up credit to impress someone you couldn't care less about, so be it. Your own judgement and your financial management integrity will dictate your choice. Society's priorities are manipulated by marketing hype.
