It is EA, it is bad.
Yup. Battlefield 2 was great, BF:BC2 was pretty good, everything that came after that? It's been downhill all the way. And I know people don't like this point of view, but I am not using Origin or UPlay. Steam isn't perfect, but at least it's got all my gaming friends and games in one place. I'll never be buying another EA game, nor Ubisoft (in fact, I only have the 'free' ubisoft game that they throw away with graphics cards, which really annoys me too - why should THEY get the bundle deal? Awful awful company. Grrr.
Can't login, anyone else have this issue?
+1 on the awfulness of Ubisoft and uPlay in particular - then again I'm still annoyed that I couldn't get my "free" title last year because their stupid eShop wouldn't recognise my (totally valid!) credit cards. And don't get me started on the inexcusable setup that requires you to install and launch uPlay for a Ubi title that you've bought on Steam.
EA I'm keener on, especially because of the "On The House" promo's, but Steam is still the one that gets my vote as "least bad". Then again, I'm a keen PvZ2 player on tablet, so I'm probably brainwashed into liking EA...
Haven't touched BF4 since a few weeks after release and that's the way it will stay
None of those features are of any particular interest to me. Will we still have to have Battlelog open in a web browser along with origin and the sctual game?
Bad, good, all of you are going to play the game and see if you like it.
They're adding an in-menu server browser to BF1, I'm hoping it will be carried across to BF4 also. Using a web browser to launch your game is abhorrent.
I didn't buy BF4 after the beta for the same reason I didn't get Battlefront 3 after the beta. It was a very expensive rehash of the previous game. Sure the engine is updated, and there are new maps, but it's not a AAA game release. They feel more like expansion packs.
Same game play, just a different set of models and maps.
That whole 'same but different' methodology is what drives consumer spending... a phone is a phone, a car is a car, we buy new ones because we like them, we want them, they look nicer, offer newer/better features etc etc. Each game offers a different experience in some way even if the core game style remains the same.
We are free to choose not to buy them of course too.
I haven't played BF4 since my friends and I ragequit after a few blatant hackers started appearing in our games. The web browser launcher did annoy me a little.
me is the sheer greed these companies have, chop things away to have season pass and first launch DLC and still have the gall to charge $79.99 for a game and here digital was supposed to make things less expensive LMAO. for me BF2-2142-BC2(a bit) rest have been garbage in various ways, mainly them laser light shows they tend to use and graphics that are WAY overblown for a "war" game and of course have many weapons all act similar, scrapping different classes to give everything and ability to deal with everything basically, and finally having tools/weapons that are so amazingly far from the truth is astounding.
The last EA game I actually loved and like to play is DA:Inquisition, the fancy laser light show crap actually FITS cause it is fantasy but even these devs admitted they hated using Frostbite as it was far to limiting in nearly all aspects when they could have built with a custom engine achieving a more robust customizable experience, but they were not "allowed"
I do like Origin for the free games, and do have a few tied into mine, but generally use steam, and as far as Ubisoft, uhh hell no, they not getting my $, they basically started with this DLC/Season pass, jack prices, lock things down crap, they make EA look almost innocent
there was ZERO wrong with them having this in-game browser that actually worked, many games still do it this way, EA has to be tools. They could have done extra stuff in Origin for game tracking etc, but to have to have webpage-battlelog-origin open and functioning just to play is extra client load for no real gain and in a few cases a massive detriment to given and smooth performance, EA makes 100s of millions $ per year, and they continue to shaft their customer and workers via sub-par products and support, it is truly terrible, many including myself helped beta test and alpha test BC2-BF3-BF4 and when game finally gets released, is a sh*t show cause they just did it a different performance hogging game breaking way anyways, blekk, myself, was done with BF when seen what BF4 turned into being, sure as hell not buying map packs just to continue playing a game which likely will be shut down a few years down the line when folks still playing it, EA is awesome at doing that.
