3GB 4gb should be minimum! I doubt anyone will pay extra for a 6gb version but I could be wrong.
Nvidia is lit as usual. "MUCH FASTER THAN AN RX 480" by itself is already damn sad for a slide title, but look at how stupid the graph is scaled. Sounds pretty desperate. When AMD compared two RX 480 to a GTX 1080 they at least kept their dignity...
I note that when AMD does slides, they include a slide that includes test configurations and games.
Given the price given, we should be able to compare it to third party 480s when they come out, or even the 1328MHz XFX that's already available (5% O/C). Factor in DX12 (where 480 often beats 980 already), a further O/C, and improved drivers and the 480 should be able to cope with the 1060 in terms of perf and definitely perf/$ easily. Power consumption will be better on the 1060, but few gamers actually care about that.
That graph is particularly bad however it'll be the price I'm more interested and how it will compare to the price of the custom 480 AIBs
So eh... well nvidia claims their 1060 beats 480 but it will cost considerable more than the 480...
I love when marketing BS do direct comparisons with products in different price ranges just to make a s***show...
How much faster "insanely faster!"
Xlucine (02-07-2016)
For £80-£120 extra it should be much faster. Duh. It almost certainly will be more power efficient and cooler (waiting on RX 480 custom boards there) but in reality a difference of 30-40W isn't a major consideration for many.
2x r9 480 i prefered
Blah.
In other news, "Geforce 1080 massively faster than second hand 3DFX Voodoo 2" claim Nvidia reps... Intel integrated graphics also rumoured to be outperformed!
Is this one of those "Much faster than the competition (at everything except DX12/Vulkan)" things? I know Nvidia has improved DX12 performance a lot in Pascal over Maxwell, but not sure how much better than AMD's GCN it is.
So if you want to game on a budget on the green side buy 2 year old tech or is £300 the new budget top end?
Held off buying a gpu for 9 months waiting for new gens & feel totally underwhelmed buy the red offering & unable to afford team green unless i buy what i could have bought last year.:-(((
"Handily beats a GPU that's two thirds of the price with twice as much memory!" isn't much of a selling point, Nvidia.
So if those prices stick I take it we will at some point get a 1050 at £220, and a 1040 at £150. They may as well do their usual re-branding of the GT210 cheap passive low end card and throw that in the mix at a nice round £100 while they are at it
