Smells pricey to me(16Gb could be 1000 pounds),but let's hope it would be worthy concerning price tag-performance ratio.

Titan's aren't meant to be gaming cards though - they're meant to be cheap computing cards - basically a consumer-grade Tesla. Look at the FP64 compute on them - it's generally much higher than on the X80 Ti cards. My understanding is that enabling the higher FP64 rate makes it less efficient for the lower-precision flops, which is why the X80 Ti will usually beat it for gaming.
My understanding was that GP100 was too heavily FP64 focussed to make a decent gaming card out of, and that's why there's a rumoured GP102 which will be a gaming-focussed HBM2 card of similar performance but without all the heavy compute stuff reducing the efficiency. A GP100 Titan card might mean that GP102 would be fabbed specifically for the 1080 Ti. That'd be a turn up...

i thought i read Nvidia saying Titan cards wouldn't be out until Q1 2017, does'nt make sense to show off this card not at least until AMD Vega card comes around

I hope having three or four cards above the GTX 1080 pushes current Nvidia prices down and we don't end up with tiers above £600.
I hope Nvidia don’t make the same mistake with the Titan P launch as they did with the Titan Z years ago.
It was way over priced at the time of launch, and you could almost buy three Titan Black’s for the same price as one Titan Z and have more Cuda power.
Nvidia decided to drop the price to where it should have been in the first place about a year later, but too late.
They have to get the price just right with Titan P or it will end up being a total flop like Titan Z was...

Actually, I did the maths earlier on ocuk and assuming the same amount of shaders as the full P100 (probably unlikely if using GP100 as surely the idea is to salvage parts) and the same frequencies I make it only 16% extra:
GP104 in GTX1080 has 2560 shaders @ 1607MHz (base), whereas the announced GP100 P100 have 3584 shaders (40% more) at a lower 1328MHz (base) frequency.
(3584 * 1328) / (2560 * 1607) = 1.15694.
So about 16% faster.
Obviously HBM2 means huge bandwidth so anything bandwidth limited would get more than 16% extra.
Of course, if Titan P is based on GP102 none of this applies. But since GP100 is 600mm² they must have lost of parts to salvage.
well anything that brings us closer to the 1080Ti.
while the 1080s are nice cards, they don't really offer anyone with a 980 ti a reason to upgrade.
