Re: Sega Mega Drive Classic console available for pre-order at £50

Lewis on Unbox Therapy had a look at this but his seemed to have streets of rage on it. Do we get a different version in the UK without that game?
If so that's a massive let down.

List does not include Streets of Rage... I'll have to go out on the streets now and release my rage...

Streets of Rage 1 2 and 3 are listed. However's a shame they missed Gunstar Heroes - probably the best 16 bit platform shooter on the Mega Drive by a wide margin. Earthworm Jim and Super Street Fighter 2 are also missing

Re: Sega Mega Drive Classic console available for pre-order at £50

Looks exactly like the horrible Mega Drive clones that are have already done the rounds of the cheap-tat market for the last few years.

I say horrible because one of the biggest flaws is its sound quality, it (obviously) doesn't use the original YM2612 FM synth chip and I don't think the designers put much effort if any in to 'emulating' the original Mega Drive's sound.

Also, £50 is a rip-off opportunistic ride on the high profile of the upcoming Nintendo mini NES, these Mega Drive clones were sold for as little as £15.

I'll eat my cynical hat if this console gets the sound right, but sadly, I'm confident it won't.

That Sega Mega Drive Classic console has been out for long time now, actually marketed by a company called @Games and has terrible audio playback and graphical errors.

There seem to be min diff ver from @Games Console
Sega Genesis Classic Console and Sega Genesis Classic Console w/wired controllers
    The diff
    Mortal Kombat I
    Mortal Kombat II
    Mortal Kombat III
    Sparkling Truffle

Vs this Sega Genesis Classic Console w/wired controllers 2015 model (NOTE there are 2 listing of Air Hockey so only 79 are really listed)
    The diff
Ecco 2: The Tides Of Time
    Eternal Champions
    Fish Story
    Flash Memory
    Sonic 3D Blast - Flickie's Island

It could just diff packing of game

It could be PAL and NTSC thing is why we see diff listing

I love the fact that these classic versions being released are pitting Nintendo and Sega head-to-head again, just like they were back then.

Unfortunately Sega's one not outputting via HDMI but instead being component, as well as other negatives already mentioned in the article, make me think Nintendo has already won this battle too.

How does this differ from the last few decades of Blaze-branded Megadrive SOC consoles? https://www.amazon.co.uk/Megadrive-P.../dp/B003ZJ28HQ

Actually, AT Games owns Blaze. It is *literally* one of those. Just re-marketed to cash in on the NES Mini by proxy

Hang on no Sonic 3? Seems a MAJOR omission. Also both ecco games, toe jam and earl, streets of rage and to a lesser extent desert/jungle strike would all be essentials personally.
