Kingpin breaks 3DMark Time Spy DirectX 12 world records

Thanks to new EVGA hardware and lashings of liquid nitrogen.

On a Nivida card which is impressive.

Why? Are nVidia cards normally slower or something?

Possibly a reference to the fact that AMD cards seem to run DX12 stuff much better than NVidia so far.

The Time Spy implementation of DX12 is the same as Nvidia's. This isn't a DX12 graphics test.

Isn't it on 11_0 feature level or something silly like that?

Re: Kingpin breaks 3DMark Time Spy DirectX 12 world records

Possibly paid by Nvidia (but not definitely) perhaps he chose this as it was an easy record to break.
AMDs only top teir cards are previous gen, not much room to push what hasn't already been achieved by now.

This isn't really a DX12 benchmark (read up, it's HUGELY flawed and gives misrepresented scores)

Add to that that Pascal doesn't really have DX12 hardware (it can brute force it with and resources it has free which usually is some, due to them being best card out at the minute)

Very poor, but excellent marketing for Nvidia

Re: Kingpin breaks 3DMark Time Spy DirectX 12 world records

Ok, slightly off topic.. But where is the big Titan X launch that's supposed to happen today?

I've seen the available to buy links, but would be nice to see some benchmarks, even just gaming or blender, octane...

I've seen a few guesstimate benchmarks, people comparing Cuda cores / frequency etc to existing 1080, 1070, 1060, and making a guess on performance, but no actual tests. Checked the usual places, Hexus, Toms, Anand..

I want these for GPU rendering client projects, so not too worried about cost as these cards will pay for themselves in a couple of months, that is once Pascal is compatible with iray and 3ds max... but I will also do the occasional gaming.

And how long do these quantity restrictions last? Currently restricted to 2, yet they sell 4-way HB SLI bridges on the same page... I know there is not much if any advantage to 4-way sli unless the developer specifically optimises for it, but as I pan to get 4 cards why not get the 4-way HB sli bridge..

I'd prefer liquid cooled too, as I render for long periods sometimes, so looks like I will have to wait on a 3rd party solution, and for iray developers / Autodesk to move their As* on Pascal compatibility....
