FH3 sounds quite good. What are the options for buying the PC version?

Windows 10 or nothing it would seem. I would have bought the game myself if they hadn't gimped the game in this way and just released it on steam.

Buy it or don't buy it.

Being serious, it's been developed using UWP https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-gb/library/dn975273.aspx (which is W10 only). It's a nice idea but it excludes a large chunk of the PC gaming market running W7, which is a shame.

On a positive note, the nature of UWP apps means developing XB1 and PC titles simultaneously has become a much simpler process, so you might start to see fewer console-only titles if you can face the change to W10.

I think there's not many technical barriers to releasing it on Steam (other than Steam might have to change their DLLs to support UWP apps, not 100% sure). But MS want to push their store. When that fails (I'm fairly sure it will) then stuff might start creeping over to Steam in time.

Quantum Break is now on Steam after poor sales from MS's store so it may hopefully be failing a bit and shows it can't be that hard to convert a UWP game to a regular executable.

Re: Nvidia and AMD release Forza Horizon 3 optimised drivers

I meant where do I buy it from, what versions are there/what's the difference between versions? I've only seen the XBox version for sale at amazon, but there seem to be many different versions even then. Actually just looking it seems there an XBOX/win10 download code version at amazon, is that the thing? It seems to cost £10 more than the physical version.

Is it just me (being cheap), or does that "Recommended" spec look a bit high-end? Maybe I'm making more of things, but usually "Recommended" means "you'll need at least this unless you want to run a la 8 bit". I'm particularly interested that the Recommended has 12GB RAM, but the "Ideal" only recommends 16GB.

That said, the renders look really, really good. Maybe I can find someone who'll do me a good deal on an upgrade from my GTX970.

It ticks my "has a Lancia Delta in the car roster" box, so if it's not multiplayer/coop only then they might get some of my hard-earned cash.

EDIT: Car roster is pretty US-heavy, and slightly disappointed to see no VWs, SEATs, or Skodas. Suprisingly though there's a Reliant Supervan, and according to Wikipedia:
In the 2016 Microsoft racing game Forza Horizon 3, A Reliant Supervan III was added to the vehicle roster. Featuring a conversion body kit for the vehicle, giving it 2 additional wheels on the front side to resist it's urge to flip on it's side, an reference to the Top Gear episode of Jeremy Clarkson driving the Reliant Robin around the streets with the additional wheels equipped in attempt to improve the vehicle's unstable handling (S15E1).
Anyone, other than me, think that a series race of these bins could be a hoot and a half?

If they get the physics right I'd enjoy that - I'm sure I've seen footage of this being done in another game - or was it dev footage of FH3?

I agree the lineup isn't brilliant - maybe there'll be some DLC to boost the numbers. There's always DLC.

Has this version fixed the downclock bug ?
    Society's to blame,
    Or possibly Atari.

Proof of what ? Search steam and it's there, Poor sales= just from what i have heard around the web (ie no proof), Converting UWP to EXE= I have no idea I was just conjecturing.

I don't think it was always going to appear on Steam, MS recently stated that they have had a change of mind about how they sell games online... just as Quantum Break was released on Steam no less.

Not just you. That i7 CPU made me blink a couple of times. Forza isn't the only game guilty of this as I've noticed quite a few games speccing i7s these days. PC gaming has never been cheap but still...

You either buy it from the Microsoft stores or from one of their digital distribution partners (Amazon).

You need to purchase the PlayAnywhere version - which gives you a copy on XB1 too. There is no PC-only option.

The different game versions basically give you the car pass and some extra 'VIP' cars too. These can be bought separately down the line so I'd dive in on the standard edition if I were you.

Saying that... the game is currently facing some technical issues. Wide speared reporting off stuttering/frame pacing issues which I can vouch for on a 6700K/980Ti/M2.PCIe drive.
Kalniel: "Nice review Tarinder - would it be possible to get a picture of the case when the components are installed (with the side off obviously)?"
CAT-THE-FIFTH: "The Antec 300 is a case which has an understated and clean appearance which many people like. Not everyone is into e-peen looking computers which look like a cross between the imagination of a hyperactive 10 year old and a Frog."
TKPeters: "Off to AVForum better Deal - £20+Vat for Free Shipping @ Scan"
for all intents it seems to be the same card minus some gays name on it and a shielded cover ? with OEM added to it - GoNz0.

Well FM6 Apex has stopped working for me now - never progresses beyond the 'press A to continue' screen :/

I'm a bit worried about MS's QA at this point in time - I've only had issues with two bits of software since win 10 but they are the Edge browser and Apex.

Re: Nvidia and AMD release Forza Horizon 3 optimised drivers

You can buy this (and most XB1 games) via accounts on key stores. The only problem is that you need to switch accounts to install it (once installed you can just start it from the shortcut and it uses your logged-in store account for achievements etc). I also feel the need to change the alternate email, email, password and security questions on both the MC account and email account you get with the purchase......just in case.

it was £25 last time I looked and allowed both PC and XB1.

I'm a bit worried about MS's QA at this point in time - I've only had issues with two bits of software since win 10 but they are the Edge browser and Apex.
I was seeing some pretty savage memory leaks while playing FM6A yesterday. I was finding it hard to go more than 2 tracks without a crash to desktop. At one point the working memory for FM6A peaked at 18GB on a 24GB machine (and windows popped up the low memory page). After updating video card drivers, messing with memory hole options and page file....all to no effect.....I then installed the latest Intel chipset drivers and managed 6 different tracks in a row.....may have been blind luck, guess I'll find out next time I play!
