The lack of memory really hurts the card, although tbh, it probably wouldn't provide any meaningful performance in games like Hitman at the higher quality settings anyway. I feel that this card should really be in the £90-£110 range, whereas they seem to be in the £115 to £135ish range, which is probably where the 1050Ti should have been instead.

the card that shines for me in this test is the rx470 card, looks a good low-mid range card.

this card would be great for HTPC purposes though.

Really looking at both the 1050 and the 1060, but with a budget I'm not sure I should invest the extra money in the 1060. My current video card is tired, and running games in 4k is taxing it.

Never seen a review where they test a 1050 vs a 960 yet?

^ That's what I'm puzzled about. Literally no reputable site compares the 1050 or 1050 Ti against a 960, which can be had for next to nothing by now and seems more attractive (at least if you don't care about bus powered vs 1x 6pin PCIe plug, which every basic 300W PSU has by now)

The 10-series is almost completely irrelevant to me at this point. The 1060 isn't really any faster than a 970, but currently costs more, and the 1070 which is supposed to be a direct replacement for the 970 is noticeably faster, but also A LOT more expensive than the card it's supposed to replace after a similar time on the market..

Seems there are lots of comparisons out there for the 1050 (either Ti or not) with the 960.

I can get a used non-reference-cooler GTX960 for around 100eur. The cheapest and nastiest (tiny fan and/or all aluminum cooler) 1050s start at 130eur, similar 1050 Ti's at 160eur. And most of these are OCed to hell and back, so they need a 6pin PCIe plug, nullifying the bus-powered advantage the 1050s are supposed to have.
Might as well get used GTX960s with much better/quieter coolers for less.. at least for now.

edit: Just looked at the link. That's another one of those garbage spec comparison sites á la cpuboss/gpuboss, with no actual benchmarks (just questionable results with no detail whatsoever) or anything useful. Sites like those are why I said reputable.

Is the fan on this card PWM controlled? I'm looking to something silent, but don't really trust EVGA since they set the minimum fan speed on the 750 Ti as 40% and it was pretty loud.

The GTX 1050 is hopefully going to be my next graphics card.

Just have to sell my current one at a decent price, only had it for a few months.
