£699 for 2560 x 1080 and 4ms lol, nice joke.
Shame you AOC.
35" 1080p. What is this, a monitor for blind gamers?
I want 1024x786 on my curved 35" monitor. Oh, and VGA only
Curved screens. Another pointless marketing ploy.
We have 1 Samsung 24" screen, here, which you do eventually get used to but, again, it's all just silly really.
I'm looking at the X34 / equivalent and the curve is subtle and useful, it's not in your face at at all. If the panel was entirely flat it actually makes you move along the desk slightly to keep square in front of it.
But I'm not convinced by these new monitors with a more aggressive curve. I think there's a real danger here of ruining normal use for the sake of "immersion" in games.
Gah, 1080p
At least it's FreeSync up to 200Hz, and I guess the curvature is nice enough (although aren't games rendered assuming a flat monitor?).
But c'mon, make it 3440x1440 at least.
Normally a big fan of AOC for their quality and pricing, but man it feels like they've missed the mark with this one.
That resolution on that size screen surely can't be good.
I would really love to see someone make a 2860x1200 34" monitor. Same pixel density as a 24" 1080p display, but way easier on the graphics card than 3440x1440.
I have been tempted into getting a curved screen for gaming. I am being put off because I think wouldn't the curve make general desktop use look a bit "bendy" (taskbar etc.) - I am quite old school in the way I like to just use one screen at home and I don't want to have to either swap monitors when gaming or be forced to give in and use a multi monitor set up (It makes my desk feel cluttered and uses more power etc. - I do have reasons!).
Has anyone here been using a single curved monitor for general usage and if so, how are you finding it?
This was / is a concern of mine too. From my experience it is not a problem with most of the 34" monitors out there now, which have a fairly benign curve (often 3000R+). The curve is very slight and actually helps, you barely notice it in fact.
However I do share your concern with these newer more aggressively curved panel with 2000R or less curves. These I've yet to physically get time with. The new X34P (assuming it ever launches) is 1900R and I may therefore actively seek one of the X34A panels in January for this reason.
I will be keeping an eye on channels like Linus for reviews before we get to see them too.
Thank you for that Andy (I am unsure how to officially thank you on the forum or if my account even allows for this yet - but the thought is there!)
I will see if I can get in front of a 34" somewhere before sinking money into this tech!
