So this is all about cable-free VR, right....?
So... where do you plug in the position-sensing base station(s), then?
Certainly for the Vive there is no issue with the base stations as these are going to be static, screwed to wall and plugged into the mains. Communication with the headset is already wireless.
The issue I see is being able to provide power to the Vive headset itself as it needs its own power source and there doesn't seem to be a way to plug that into the backpack.
Whats the point if you need a backpack anyway??
You might as well go for a walk!!
Interesting idea but I don't think we are quite ready for it. Having something like this on your back and the headset on your head is a lot of weight. Wouldn't be surprised if people came out with back and neck pains. In a couple of years, hopefully the same experience can be much lighter overall.
Make sense for warehouse scale, not so much for room scale where a few pulleys could sort the cable issue.
How far away are we from bendable tech, i.e. all this but in say a thick sweater or coat?
I feel this is relevant:
CAT-THE-FIFTH (12-11-2016)
quite a big improvement from the prototype i saw at Computertex....1.5 hr of game play is amazing
Looks like MSI was a bit too slow to market with this product! HTC themselves have fixed the wire issues. Enjoy an hour and a half of totally wireless VR, without having to wear a space heater on your back.

Almost a week after it was supposed to be released in Australia and even MSI still has no idea when.
I was only looking out of curiosity of the price, as with most things when thtey finally arrive here, it will probably be close to double the UK price.
Can not see myself paying about $3500 or more for a backpack PC, especially since HTC has already made their product wirelessm (as DaMoot mentioned above)
