The inner layout dates back to early 2015, while the external appearance dates back to the early 1980s.
I'm sure it's all part of a sound business plan to make sure that the case ages so hard that within a couple of years the owner is obliged to buy a new one, or else hide this monstrosity away in a dark cupboard where it can quietly shed its plastic scabs in peace.
Cooling & noise performance aside (good but not when compared to the likes of Fractal Design Define S - though that's mysteriously disappeared from the charts), it's not a case I would buy or have.
As above. Far too gaudy for my tastes.

ASUS's marketing is all backwards. I would pay good money not to have ROG styling.

God damn that is one the tackiest and cheapest looking cases I've ever seen
I kinda like the way it looks, but no reset button? That's just weird.
This chassis has "gamz0r" written all over it. Either that or "eye sore".
Needless to say, it's not to my taste ...or anyone, who isn't blind.
Why has Fractal Design's Define S been removed as a comparison chassis?

Airwave, we simply had too many chassis in the graphs and made the decision to remove a bunch of cases tested prior to 2016. The test methodology hasn't changed, however, so the Define S results can still be used for comparison:

As a dedicated fan of funky, cool styling and stuff, I can quite categorically say this is nothing to do with the 1980s.
It is certainly pure form over function and is more like a mid-2000s car stereo. I'm more a fan of the Sony XR-777 style... Heck, I drive a mkI Octavia with the original cassette stereo, because modern offerings look more like MadCatz products!
I've no problem with RGB LEDs, so long as you can choose to turn them off as well as selecting 256 million different colours. Rarely, though, is it done in a way I actually like, as in a design highlight or like a computer console from the actual 1980s... It's usually just accent lighting, which is again more reminiscent of a kevved up boy racer car from the mid-2000s with underlighting and LEDs in the footwell.
Inside structure looks OK, though could probably do with more cable space. I still love my Corsair 500R, for the back panel 'bulge' that takes care of that.
I also like 5.25" bays, mainly to house my own mods rather than disc drives, but I'm also not a fan of front doors on cases.
Back panel is possibly a touch too open at the lower front and would benefit from more structural support. This does seem like a big open space to just stuff cables in and hide it under the PSU shroud. Easy solution but feels cheap.
"Cases for Gam0rz" can be really cool... they just have to be done right. This is a pretty good example of how it's not.
