Well, this might cause a stir somewhere. I have mixed reactions already. If this works out well for YouTube, there's just the smallest possibility they might stop being so militant about forcing advertising on us on their actual video site. Regardless, the YouTube site itself is somewhat ill at its core.

Maybe transitioning the audience of the website back to TV will bring everybody full circle, we'll forget about all of YouTube's past wasted potential and crimes against users. Or maybe this will just be a niche TV service for people scared of paperwork.

$35pcm is quite a lot for what you get, isn't it? Now TV is only £6 a month for a similar offer...

But thats UK, and only Sky so I think it's quite hard to compare the 2 offerings.

I think for US this might take off considering the horrendous pricing of some providers, assuming they get the content that people want of course. Will cable providers fight back? Yup, and they have got a lot of power and money behind them.

Google is hardly lacking for power or money either.

But that isn't their only area of business.
Embedded cable companies with millions of customers in contract, with exclusive access to certain content and existing relationships with businesses and regulators arguably have the high ground here.

NowTV only gives you 11 channels for that though, and only 7 genuine "pay tv" channels - Google are offering a lot more content for the money..although equally I can't comment on how many are the "top tier" ones to go for an equivalent comparison.

It's an interesting change in the market though, later than many predicted..but it's the way it's going. With Sky launching their sky branded streaming only (i.e. no dish, no cable) service in the relatively near future too, there will be a sizeable amount of competition in the next few years. Remains to be seen whether we'll see companies like Amazon snapping up any of those broadcast rights to add to their existing on-demand content.

It will if we all allow ourselves this piece of lazy thinking. Perhaps a better suggestion is to look at other countries where they have bought in legislation to protect 'net neutrality'. You may wish to look at countries like Holland for example and hope this will change your 'half glass empty' perspective.

Re: YouTube TV, live TV service, launches at $35pcm in USA

Ajit Pai is about to kill net neutrality in USA unless we do the same thing as last time perhaps which was complain to tom wheeler with 3.7million comments of hatred for killing it, so he had to pass it. We will need that again for Trump to get the message and tell Ajit Pai shut the heck up or you're FIRED. Pai is a TOOL for cable companies/telcos. He wants fast lanes etc.

Hopefully the site where USA people need to complain is up soon so we can flood them with comments AGAINST killing what wheeler put in place.
