Windows 10 is cancer. The more people are forced in to it because of the lack of support for the older Windows OSs, the more people will be unable to get Microsoft to make some dire changes to Windows 10. No privacy, bloat-ware apps, a horrible UI, a non-transparent update mechanism that doesn't even show how long an update takes or what its size is, terrible placement of important settings and features... I could go on and on.
Everything Microsoft is pushing is wrong. Forcing DX 12 to work only on Windows 10, pushing a broken app store down user's throats, deliberately cutting out support for older systems through software and hardware...it's too much. Windows 10 is broken - something that has been obviously built through a duct-tape like approach to coding should not be pushed on to customers.
I'm still really liking it and every new release build has been better than the last.
If you don't like telemetry, turn it off.

Was the last time they checked in with the 400 million number before or after they updated the Xbox to use Windows 10?
I have no real issues either apart from some well older hardware not being happy

As we're starting to find out, software developers are forced themselves into an endless upgrade cycle, having to constantly fork out for the latest versions of Visual Studio, continually forced to move versions of the .Net Framework and so on.
For example, we're going to have to spend somewhere in the region of 500-600 man hours installing .Net 4.7 on client PC's because otherwise our application will not function on Win10 machines due to the withdrawal of support for various cryptographic components. We've had hours of time wasted diagnosing issues that have turned out to be caused by a Win10 update.
It's not just home users who suffer from Microsoft's endless obsession to become Google, they've lost sight of the fact that their dominance exists because of businesses who all use Windows + MS Office because that's what everyone knows.

Only problem with Win 7 is a lack of support for some stuff. If you have legacy stuff then great, but some things I use already run better on Win 10 than 7 and have newer and/or better features.
Now, of course that is the way that they would like it to be - but regardless it's happening.
This debate is also going on Mac wise and phone OS wise. It's just another debate that is going to polarise the vast majority

One issue I have also found is that the one single cumulative monthly update. If the update breaks something you miss out of all the security fixes as well as the other bug fixes and due to being cumulative you may have to not patch for 2 months due to the breakage. I preferred the older software development cycle major number means big change and minor number means small change so you can get the security patches without having to take some feature changes that could break things. I generally like windows 10 but there are a few things that annoy me and the biggest one is that we have control panel and settings. the change between them is jarring and control panel is more useable IMHO especially for add /remove programs.

MS is only getting these kinds of numbers because new machines come loaded with this crap. As for telemetry , you can't turn it off , some of it yes but not the root of it , it's embedded into the system.
I've enjoyed using Windows down the years despite the gaffs and hiccups and Win7 became everything I wanted in an O/S or as close as possible. The ride stops at Win7 for me with MS , soory guys this new piece of garbage can be put on the heap with other foul up Millenium.
