Leave it to Apple to create a high-priced (and high-powered) yet ergonomically challenged all-in-one.
iMac Pro... from an engineering standpoint it's pretty impressive, from a practicality and price standpoint ($5k for the base model so I'd hate to see the maxed out price) I have no idea what sort of professional would buy it.... and I'm pretty much the target market as someone who works in 3D design doing visualisations etc
Also found it funny that Tim said that an equivalent workstation would cost about $8k....it wouldn't
I will say MS really needs to get on with supporting external gpu's etc properly now....
So they've dumped the old Mac Pro into a (similarly styled) trash-can? Seems a shame, think that had a lot more going for it than this all-in-one (for workstation & upgradability needs anyhow)...

Well, that is a surprise.
Everything else in terms of design says loudly not-Pro to me though. The question is surely, whether any professional users actually want either this AiO design, or the toaster Mac Pro compared to the normal towers/desktop chassis Apple made going back to the various Mac IIs?
In other words, is it all about style-over-substance or is it that the bean counters at Apple are so found of built-in-obsolescence that even their 'pro' users spending £5k+ are not allowed to have any kind of upgrade-ability or repairability in case that damages future sales?

Well, Apple's site gives some specs, but seems to be rather vague about the CPU. 18-core had a lot people thinking i9-7980XE (and ~160W), but since it is Xeon it might have a lot lower TDP and lower clocks. In fact, that's likely as top range Vega (~250W) and CPU (~160W) plus the other parts would make an AiO with close to 500W of heat to exhaust which seems unlikely.
True. But if their Pro's work in industry which needs MacOSX, they won't have much of a choice. If the entry-level starts at $5k, the 18-core version with 4TB and 128GB RAM is going to cost what? $10k, $15k? You'd hope for film work etc. it would come with a well-made custom flight case for transportation.

Looks to me that the air is pulled in from the bottom of the screen where the speaker vents are and then the hot air is pushed out at the back around the 'stand mount' area so higher than the air being taken in. It should work pretty well in terms of thermal separation. Also seems like there may be a bit of 'vertical' separation between the in and out ducting looking at how the fans pull air into the out ducting from the in ducting.
