"Wireless charging tech doesn't seem to be ubiquitous for mobile devices, where it is most useful"
"starting price for 12 inch tablet convertible is $1,199 and to wirelessly charge you need another $550"
Now run the prices through the how-much-ripoff-does-UK-deserve-today-izer and the result will be almost directly reverse proportional to collective interest in devices like this one.
While I like the convenience of not having to plug stuff in this kind of seems a little pointless.
You need a 'huge' wireless mat for it to sit on while it's charging... which means you're still tied to the same spot and require a power cable so other than one extra free port it's really no different to just plugging straight into the device.
If this was using 'radio waves' to charge/power the device then I can see the benefits but using a mat kind of seems pointless to me.
The device itself looks quite nice but I'll wait to see what sort of uk prices we get before passing full judgement.
