Just save yourself some cash, buy a 100 bucks tablet from gearbest with similar specs, add a keyboard in the mix for 10 bucks and voila, you have a mini laptop which can play only old games and you have to destroy your eyes with that tiny display.

This is the kind of device I imagine film baddies pull out when they're just about to outsmart the theoretic stereotypical hero and unleash their mega-super-hacker-virus-of-doom.

Could be nice for Netflix and online chats etc. while moving around.

I dunno,its really tiny and would be ideal for a photographer as a basic netbook to do a bit of image editing on.

The latest Atom CPUs are not far off a Core2 quad nowadays too and 8GB of RAM is actually quite a decent amount.

7" and Windows though....does not compute. I appreciate they're probably trying to create a niche product, but realistically you'd want something 10" and 125% scaling to make this practical enough to use. I just feel 7" isn't big enough for a desktop environment.

10" would still make for a really nice ultra compact laptop.

Happy with my Toshiba Satellite Click Mini, a bit bigger but easy to chuck in a bag and it's a 2 in 1 (though rarely actually use it as a tablet, a stand that also doubles as a keyboard and trackpad is a great addition ).

It's not as cool as a Psion, loved my Psion Revo (nabbed from my dad when he no longer used it).

Personally I like the idea for something I can just sling in a bag and take everywhere but then I look at it and think... wouldn't this be better with a screen that flips completely over plus a stylus for note taking and be running on an arm cpu....

While I do have a tablet with the atom processor this has it's really slow because of the 2GB of ram and I keep wishing I could upgrade it to 4GB.

And I'm not sure I'd pay the asking price or risk the import tax and warranty issues that may arise.

Nothing will be as cool as a Psion, except a new, updated form of Psion and the market for such a device has largely been filled by the functions available on yer average Smartphone... it's just the form factor and the more user-friendly features inherrent in such.

Revos were awesome, but the internal battery failures leading to data loss were catastrophic for me. I went with an HTC Universal (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HTC_Universal) afterward, to fill the void and my need for a PDA more than a mobile phone... but that lagged behind technology and after several more attempts, I resigned myself to a boring slab of glass like everyone else.

While I still love the micro-PC stuff and would have several in a heartbeat (the Pandora form factor was awesome), they just cannot compete in any market that I can see - This GPD is too big for a pocket device, too small for a lap/desktop, and anything it can do is already being done by something else...

Shame, really...

I would love one of these if I was on a photographic trip though - it would be enough to do some light editing and review of pictures on the go as it wouldn't need a dedicated laptop bag or compartment.

OTH,for general media stuff I would think an Android or iOS tablet would probably do a better job.

Bah,the CPU is Cherry Trail based not Apollo Lake based,which means the CPU is not as quick as I expected.

I would be interested in a product such as this but not at the price currently on Gearbest.
I appreciate that as its crowd funded there are probably limitations to its development however it seems odd to me that they did not go for a wider display (assuming there are ones available) to get rid of those excessive black sidebars.
I do think if they had gone for a larger 8" size of say an iPad mini screen size and with a fixed keyboard, so an 8" display laptop i think it would sell better plus add a core M processor.

In the old days I would have been very tempted to buy one. It certainly hits the right buttons for me. Unfortunately right now I don't need something that's both small and a full (but weak) PC.

looks nice but about 4 times what I think it's worth, considering you can get 7" tablets running windows for about £30 at times, albeit not so great specs and no keyboard. I rarely used my 7" windows tablet as it's too finicky to use with a keyboard and mouse, but my 10.1" tablet with keyboard and pad case it's pretty cool. I still prefer the ipad for usability on the go though
