Reminds me a lot of the Sony tablet P - http://www.techradar.com/reviews/pc-...1044037/review

Great idea, I really wanted one at the time (and kind of still do to add to my collection), but the Tablet P was hampered by the screen. Depending on how these work it could be a nice concept once refined a bit more

It needs to fold in the direction that protects the screen.

    Wow,that is almost futuristic!

I wonder how long until we start to see such screens in actual devices - a flexible screen should in theory be more resistant to being dropped(might be wrong here).

    Meh.
We get foldable/bendable screen prototypes crop up every couple on months on here.

Call me when it's actually available to buy...

This seems heads and tails above anything else that has popped up. The fact that it completely bends back on itself is pretty slick... Normally I'd say, "Small steps" but this seems major.

i kind of agree- it is counterintuitive that it doesn`t fold inwards like a book.
but if it did the screen would have a sharper (for want of a better word) fold than the rounder fold seen here.
this screen doesn`t actually fold as such, but bends, albeit by quite a lot.
what i`m trying to say is that the radius would be a great deal smaller.

Is it just me who reads Lenovo and thinks insecure? It would be fine if you could install your own OS but it seems to need a Lenovo customised version of Android, not the most privacy friendly OS to start with.

Re: Lenovo Folio foldable tablet demonstrated (videos)

Folding that way is smart, but I worry about fatigue - any microscratches on the gorilla glass (?) are likely to grow rapidly, unless the rest of the screen is under a lot of compression

I've seen it several times before, back from about 2011, I'd estimate - Someone had plans to slap one of these on a curved bike tank as a built-in SatNav and I still had the XVS650 at that point.

So yeah, major, major, major, and all that, but still nowhere near general release after 6 years of prototyping... There's small steps, and then there's going from a GTX590 through to a GTX1080Ti... How much longer?

    Depends on the intent.
Folding outwards like that allows it to take on a smaller form factor for more portable use.
Ideally it could do with going both ways, outside for function when in use, inside for protection when not in use.

Plus folding out into effectively two screens, I can see potential for photography as demonstrated in the video.
First is the subject seeing themselves, allowing them to aid in the framing.
Another is something suitable to attract the attention of a subject, such as a cartoon etc to attract the attention of a child having their photo taken.
