Occasionally I think Hexus really needs proofreaders...

This could be very interesting in the future.
Linux is a 'you have to learn' operating system unlike windows now that has been dumbed down so much it works like a smart phone............. free to download Linux (yes just like windows 10 a while back) .... what you got to loose on a live disc or usb copy ? ... try it :d

I tried it, most of my software wouldn't install/work, gave up and went back to windows 10.

On that front I still like to have a look occasionally and this does sound quite an interesting development in the linux world

Not developed for such an OS since the days of SCO Xenix/Unix. What is the preferred flavour of Linux these days?

True, but the typos like "porfiler" and "eacy" grate a bit.

Depends on what you are trying to do and what sort of desktop you prefer. Try downloading a few live images that you can boot off a USB stick. I like to run a KDE graphical version of Fedora (which is what I am typing this on) as a desktop, but it might be worth trying Mint, Debian and Ubuntu.

Sounds like someone hasn't ever Porfiled a GPU before

Nice, but for a joke like that to really fly you have to create the Wikipedia entry for it

Why would you expect win32 binaries to run on a kernel that processes ELF binaries? It's amazing that WINE is able to run win32 binaries on an ELF kernel at all, but it's unreasonable to expect it to be up to date with every API change Microsoft makes, the project is always playing catchup with far less resources. The obvious solution is to use other software, or run software that needs bug for bug compatibility in a VM. It's a bit tricky, but even games can be run in a VM with GPU passthrough.

I don't expect windows binaries to run under linux, but when the productivity programs i am running don't natively support linux and either don't run or run badly its just not suitable for me.
