Cheap that... I'd rather take multiple shots and stitch them together to get the resolution

€200/day to avoid doing that & speed up the image taking process could end up making financial sense, depending on how much you're paying the photographer

with the right set up you could likely replicate it with 4 camera's so you get the 4 'corners' of the image for a lot less. Obviously a bit more bulky etc but it should work.

4 100 Mpix sensors isn't going to come in any cheaper than 1 100 Mpix sensor and some piezo actuators - in fact, it'll probably cost $76,000 more

Aside from the extra cost of going from one to four expensive cameras with extremely expensive sets of lenses - stitching together four quadrants of a "2D" panorama is tricky to do while achieving consistency of exposure, colour and focus field. Dealing with distortion is even more difficult as you've got different levels and types of distortions along the four different edges of four separate lenses, not mention that you can't correct for the difference in perspective caused by a significant separation of the lenses, made worse in this application as the subject will be quite close.

Even with very expensive cameras and lenses, the sharpest part of the image is still towards the centre. Stitching together four quadrants would make for significantly reduced sharpness along the central parts of the final image (exactly where you don't want it), not to mention things like chromatic aberration being worse in these zones too.

Oh - and it's tricky to mount, frame and stabilise four cameras, you can't easily check the framing or shots in real-time and the post-processing will take extra time and resources.
