"Turning to the 6C/6T" this sort of implies the chip is meant to have 6 threads, not that it was configured with SMT off.
Ugh I could quadruple my thread count and plausibly hold the same single thread core speed with a 2700X stock on X470. And the CPU would cost a mere 50 quid over what I paid for 6600K. I don't need to do it, but, this burns a little.

The benchmarks ive seen show AMD is quite simply blowing Intel out the water. Seems like they would be more useful for hexus to post that meaningless LN2 overclocking that applies to literally no-one reading it.

Not knowing much about extreme overclocking is the voltage difference (R1 average 1.97v vs R2 1.76v) down to processor node size (smaller ones can't handle higher voltages), motherboards only allowing a percentage higher than default, less effective packaging not allowing the LN2 to cool as well as previously, something else or a combination of things.
