Google Pixel 3 XL in Clearly White poses for photos

Pictures show a single rear camera, large chin, and a rather deep notch.

I'm struggling to see this leak as being accurate but I am also struggling to put into words why i feel like this!

I really don't see why other smartphone makers insist upon continuing with the notches. Just because Apple did it doesn't mean that others need to follow in their footsteps.

Notches do the opposite of convincing me to get a new phone, they make me stay far away instead.

I can't see why anyone would ever take issue with a notch other than "I hate Apple and everything they do is bad."

Yuk. Come on Google tell us all that this was your spoof "joke" phone, you wouldn't really try and sell us all a flagship phone with a big hole in the screen, right? right? This has to be just a big public trolling from Google.

Because it adds both hardware and software complexity for no real gain. Sure you might be able to squeeze an icon or two in the area but 99.9% of software won't be able to utilise it and as it not in a standard location for Android those that do might be inconsistent. I also just think it looks dumb - person opinion of course! I'd rather they just concentrated on making the speaker, sensors and camera fit in a really small bezel. Seems better simpler idea to me but because Apple have gone down this route everyone copies it...

"Notch" is what the locals call Norwich... and they make me stay far away, too.
    Coincidence?

Not so sure about more or less no bezel too as its not practical,ie,if you hold the phone, will it detect it as a touch gesture, and also what happens when you use a case(especially since more phones are made of slippery materials).

Same here, a notch = do not buy, its ugly and pointless, much like the curved screen on many samsung phones.

Android P which will be launch version supports notch natively. Though I can't see the point of a notch at top and a huge chin at bottom....seems backwards to me - might as well have 2 x notches if you have 1
Old puter - still good enuff till I save some pennies!

Re: Google Pixel 3 XL in Clearly White poses for photos

I was going to upgrade my pixel xl to 3xl, but if it looks like that. No notch thanks.
No space for notifications not to mention ruins viewing anything in full screen.
To make things worse the other edges are curved as well.
I see that i'm not alone in hating the notch!

Re: Google Pixel 3 XL in Clearly White poses for photos

I glanced at the latest OnePlus phone that has a notch, but apparently has a software setting that "fills in" the space either side of the notch and brings the notification bar down.

I'd rather not have one (a notch), but I'd imagine a software workaround would be acceptable, and hopefully restore a sane aspect ratio

Re: Google Pixel 3 XL in Clearly White poses for photos

Lets stop all this nonsense about people copying Apple's notch.! As usual Apple copied something, for better or worse, that appeared on Andriod device first, same as with QI charging, the removal of the headphone jack, same as with virtually everything else they do. They copy and improve and usually make it mainstream.....but that doesn't mean they're first.

I wasn't suggesting that they were first, but it is clear in cases like this that Apple using it makes other smartphone makers decide to follow in their footsteps in the hope that it's the feature that would convince consumers to choose their product.

It does make me smile at people getting would up over a few square mm of screen space! Is it REALLY that important (and why?)
