The Brexiteers with their arrogance, short-sightedness, false promises, lies and stirring up racism, will have a lot to answer for as we all suffer the consequences of leaving the EU.

Re: Panasonic to move European HQ from London to Amsterdam

The biggest problem here is uncertainty, if we had got on with it and where somewhere towards a deal now the future would be clearer for said companies, unfortunately we have just spent the time bickering among ourselves and are no closer to an agreement.

On a wider front is does make sense to have your European headquarters in Europe, which we are leaving so maybe this always was going to happen, things certainly are going to change that much we know.

To be fair, we don't all work at Panasonic.

Re: Panasonic to move European HQ from London to Amsterdam

Ah a company that employs 30 people is moving 2/3's to Europe to ensure a smooth workflow because like everyone else they have no idea what's going on with brexit.

If it was a company moving several hundred I'd be a bit more concerned but it's 20 people and I wouldn't be surprised if there are additional factors outside of just brexit. I'd say this is being blown a little out of proportion imo.

Tbh the issue isn't brexit, it's the fact that our government are completely inept at dealing with the situation thanks to infighting and having a pro europe PM....combine that with the EU who are too stupid to see that they'll be hit just as hard as we will with no deal and we get the current situation of complete cluster ****.

Ah the joy of watching politicians prove they're worth every penny...

It's not like the uncertainty wasn't know about before the vote, there wasn't any idea of what leaving the EU would entail, there was no plan before the vote and there still isn't one that the politicians can agree on.

I imagine it's more about the TAX than the loss of jobs.

It's also not like we didn't know our politicians were inept before the vote, to say it's all going wrong because of X, Y, or Z belies the fact that either X, Y or Z was known about before the vote and people knew what to expect, or that they didn't and so didn't know what they were voting for.

Oh yeah that's it, the perceived "uncertainty" is the problem. If we just shut the door/signed the deal, everything would just be fine.... Right?

The uncertainty amounts from the fact that there is no good path to take. All paths lead to the same troubling future that looks nothing like the promises sold, and bought.

While we knew they were pretty inept at running the country I'd say brexit is taking it to a whole new level...

A TV was the last branded product, but they probably also supplied some battery tech in a device or two.

Presumably that's as opposed to the demonstrably utter drivel of the economic 'forecasts' coming from those bastions of Project Fear, the Treasury.

It's going to take quite a long time, and by that I mean a decade at an absolute minimum, before the full economic and financial consequences, both positive and negative, are known. because it takes a long time to unstitch the consequences of being tied in to an economic and political framework like the EU, and to rebuild traditional relationships and develop new ones with the rest of the planet.

Besides, Brexit is about more than just trade and money.
