Yeh but there's another letter on the "RGB" acronym. It's now ARGB. I think they're being inspired by LGBTQPIAA+. More letters = more better. And yes, I'm consciously making connections between gay pride and RGB components. Can you say "flllaaaaming!"? *Minces*

I do think there's a lot to be said for a good case. It makes jobs so much easier and less frustrating. I'd spend £150 on a decent case that'll last years and makes access and so on easy as well as enabling you to fit in anything you want - I think that's ultimately worth it. £415? For an empty case? That's getting silly. A decent case will last longer before a silly cheap plastic bit breaks, rendering an important part useless and it'll also save you a lot of time in the future. And it's that time that is priceless as well as making a hobby actually pleasurable rather than an exercise in frustration management and application of plasters to bite marks from your case.

Re: Cooler Master Cosmos C700M premium chassis launched

Nope, nope and nope. I love putting computers together (Recently built a 7900x machine on the x299 platform in order to use the Asus x16 m.2 card. 4x Samsung m.2 ssds etc) and the case cost £130. Even then it was quite expensive compare to what I could buy. Once it's in there... leave it alone. Plan it properly, but the parts you need now,if possible, but these companies are really just going for a cash grab at this point in time.

£415... Is nearly another 1080 card.

The case was a Corsair CC-9011096-WW Carbide Series Air 740. Not bad but the fans are not even close to being silent (Hence Noctua)

Premium is quite the word when something goes against the general aesthetics of current cases

Re: Cooler Master Cosmos C700M premium chassis launched

How exactly is this "pushing the limits of case technology, design and features"? <admin removed>

Statements like that really put me off brands. I almost feel insulted that they think this kind of wording would fool me into parting with £450 for a case that is ultimately just a case. Very poor marketing.

The only thing unique about this case is the fact that the motherboard tray can be rotated and fixed into three different positions.

Oh, and I realise this is purely subjective, but god damn it's ugly! Thank fook for Fractal Design. Excellent build quality, decent features and durable components/accessories (e.g. fans) and for a sensible price.

More German stuff I won't be buying

Nah. Fractal Design makes better minimalist utilitarian cases, and would still stand out. This overpriced dumpster fire is just like a 5-cent parking lot whore begging for money. Trust me, I know. Penis still hurts.

Sorry Cooler Master, but stop hiring college kids. Get legit product designers. And stop watching Nvidia custom builds.

Re: Cooler Master Cosmos C700M premium chassis launched

I think we have to remember, joking aside, that there is a market for people who DO have silly money to spend on superfluous things for the sake of appearance. This is like pimping up your car with speed holes and so on. There will be a market for this and I really don't begrudge them it.

Why this attitude compared to the hated for nvidia and their price gouging? Because demand for GPUs amongst gamers is inflexible and if you want to keep up, you have to pay the prevailing prices or have your hobby taken away from you. This is a different kettle of fish in that it's totally optional. There WILL be complex water cooled systems which will benefit from this and there will be well sponsored gaming teams who will buy this kind of thing as it's eyecatching and eyes at them are eyes on their sponsors. I do believe there is a limited market for this, but it certainly isn't on this forum. Bearing in mind when you're R&Ding for a niche market with low sales, that pushes the price up even higher still.

EDIT - speaking of watercooling, I've got a Vega64 that's running so loud it's actually annoying even me, and I used to play in a room with an old air conditioner and industrial fan running. Might be time to dip my toe in the water....

EDIT EDIT - ah, getting warned for swearing. Pretty much my first act upon joining this forum.

Funny how QOTW: Is the cost of gaming getting out of hand?

You review a sub £500 PC case

Well, there is the key issue really. The case itself probably would last "years", however with the progression of the USB standards there becomes a point where the ports on the cases become obsolete. It isn't too bad with Lian Li cases, at least those parts can be upgraded.

Has anyone ever owned a Cosmos? I had the first one that came out and it's was HUGE case, so much so I had trouble fitting it under my desk. It's the only part I didn't resell when I built a new PC, it would have cost a fortune to send via courier and wasn't worth the effort. I like the overall design of the case, just the size of it is problematic.

Cooler Master isn't a German brand, so you wouldn't be buying German "stuff" either way.

I have a Cosmos S, must be 10 years old now, still rock solid.

Its kind of annoying in a way, this machine of mine (including the actual computer) isn't bad enough to throw in the bin, yet I can't imagine anyone buying it. The case itself is fine with the exception of USB 2.0, which I could probably rewire to 3.0 (did it on an HP Envy case for a friend).

I for one would never consider any case for whatever £414 translates into $s. i know it is far more than 415.i dont like to pay that much for my gpu. . i know that people will pay out big money for the best nvidia gpu and top dog cpu either threadripper or the near $2k intel processor when it is new. but to add another huge hit with the case, just to play games? to show off all that stuff is a must i suppose.so it isnt 'just to play games' i know. i wonder how many they really expect to sell? must be a giant profit margin built in. and big sale knock down prices i expect. may be looking to buy one of these in a year for $200 or £200
