I actually prefer something with bezels at the top and bottom, a physical home button and somewhere to hold when talking photos is more important than a couple of extra mms of screen size.

Whilst it's infinitely better than the gigantic notch on the iphones/huawei/Pixels...it's still a notch, its still ugly, and it's still completely unnecessary.

Really stupid decision from Samsung - they had a golden opportunity to remain the only major vendor to product phones with a full front screen, and they wussed out.

I suppose I should be kind of happy really as it means I have an incentive to NOT replace my S9 next year and to wait until some common sense is restored to the industry and people stop putting pointless holes in screens.

While I still so absolutely no reason to have a notch in a mobile phone screen, at least stick it in the middle, where less info is placed, and make it as small as possible.

I find the one on the P20 Pro quite minimalist and turning the top section around it black (option in menu), i honestly don't notice unless the screen is off. Oh and sometimes I swipe down on the notifications and my thumb is on the center of the screen and it doesn't swipe.

Looks fine to me, I'd need to try it out to decide properly. The other rumour of a corner notch also seemed to look good with the display hidden. I think people obssess way too much about notches, there's not really much of an issue so long as you have the option to disable it...

SAmsung will release this new type of notch on a budget phone, so that they have an excuse if it is a poor design. Android is bad enough for notch already because of the software support, but the difference here is that samsung puts the notch in a very unusual place... Imagine google maps, where that menu will be? because right now that menu is on the left upper corner, where this notch it should be.
IMHO it is a bad placement.. All other androids put the notch in a very preditible palce, so the software developers don;t have that much work to do to adapt the software to a newe phone...

Hmm, I don't mind the look of it vs having a notch. Though I'm also not bothered about edge-to-edge screens either, I'm happy/prefer to have physical buttons at the bottom.

where does the front facing camera go then on a fully fledge screen?
