    What <admin removed> have they done to it as the original HR-02 could handle 100w in passive mode?

    That would seem odd, perhaps the original was over-rated and this is a correction? AIUI the back effect is really about having a rougher surface at the microscopic level so it increases the surface area and should improve heat transfer. I struggle to see how the finish would make things worse.
