Because pretty > security.
Especially as more people bank on their phones, etc.
Well, like the whole RGB 'pantie-twisting travesty', I'll just assume FaceRec can be disabled and carry on using what works.....

I'd compare it to tyres on a car. You would, unless you bought some dodgy brand, expect the tyres on a new car to work properly with the vehicle and withstand normal driving conditions as well as provide decent grip in an emergency. You'd not be happy if you'd bought the car and then had to change the tyres immediately because the OE ones were not fit for purpose.
Indeed it can, as Samsung have sensibly kept the fingerprint scanner which is far superior to these face unlock systems, as well as being more convenient. An option iPhone purchases don't have
If they had not put a hole in the front of their screens the S10 range could have been near perfect, but sadly they did, leaving no good reason for any sensible person to buy one.

Tbf I don't know many people who actually use much security on their phones, I can use most of my mates phones with a simple guess of the pin or the android shape unlock.
I can see people being worried about the holepunch but I don't think it's too bad after seeing one in the flesh. And it has long been known that the standard face unlock can be fooled. I'm the only person I know who uses iris unlock on my S9
Old puter - still good enuff till I save some pennies!
The finger print scanner is fast on my S10e and that's one of the reasons I went for the S10e rather than S10 or +, ultrasonic sensors need time too mature, just like capacitive ones did. Tbh S10e has converted me from a Samsung hater to something approching the opposite. I'm really liking this phone and that's coming a Pixel 3 and numerous other flagships of last year.
Aye my missus can't have an S9 because she is disabled and can't physically reach the fingerprint sensor on the back. She's stopping with an S7 because of this though I think she may like the S10e

Jeez 3d...........that is sucky.........but the S10e might be a suitable replacement.
I am currently having a good old moan at Samsung on the various channels about this in screen mess tbh. While I love the idea of the tech and appreciate that yes, it is first gen, the compromises made are not ideal, especially for a phone that is basically a grand.
It is slow and I am guessing that this will improve with software optimisation.
What cannot be fixed so easily however, is the fact that you can see the sensor through the screen in daylight and it looks like screen burn. Not great for a company that prides themselves about their displays.
And as for Samsung's response............classic Samsung.
They have included this in their "Troubleshooting" guide for the scanner
Just think of the adverts that Apple could make with that list in response to the "mono-brow" shots that Samsung fired.
And I *hate* Apple.
I am so conflicted now. lol
Does look worse than when I looked at S10's last week to be honest. But yeah not great. But at the same time the sensor is supposed to be much better than the other in-display sensors...

Face unlock works a bit too well............
Like "is there a face, ANY FACE" well
