There is a new 7.9-Inch iPad mini too. Both pack the A12 bionic chip and support the Apple Pencil.

"Incredible power at an incredible value, $499"

Are we supposed to be happy that a tablet costs $499? They're filling in the lower end so the next models will cost more. Marketing be gone.

While I do like the idea of the mini with the stylus (it's a stylus, doesn't matter what you call it...) it is a tad overpriced and that's before the second 'brexit' extra they've stuck on top in case the exchange rates change.

Current exchange rate is $399 is roughly £300, plus VAT at 20% gives a price of £360, it doesn't cost £40 per item to send it to the UK versus the US (all made in same place).

'the new tablets feature the same Wi-Fi performance' I thought the wifi was a problem on the Pro tablets, always dropping out.

From a sample of one, my 1st gen pro has never dropped wifi. Not once.

A bit of bezel on a tablet is a good thing, imo, due to how it's used and held, but they are quite chunky in Jimmy Hill/David Coulthard kind of way.

Also talking of bezels when are we going to get an updated iMac without borders bigger than a Brexiteer's wet dream??

Re: Apple has launched a 10.5-inch iPad Air

Its a shame the prices are so high - i'd be tempted to pick up the Air to replace my Air 2...but consdiering I only paid £329 for my Air 2 new from an Apple store...now asking me for £499 (which is what I would assume the UK price will be) is a bit rich, even for Apple.

Then again, considering that I only ever use my iPad for simple web browsing, youtube and videos when on a train....I don't really need to upgrade. I have my surface for productivity work (something the iPad is totally uselsss at) so I don't really need to upgrade. It's not as if my Air 2 is particularly slow, and it's battery life is still brilliant.

I will stick with what I have for now..

Re: Apple has launched a 10.5-inch iPad Air

I like 8 inch tablets for media consumption and my Lenovo one is getting slow and old (only update was from 5.0 to 5.1, some Google app updates refuse to install now, etc.), so I'm thinking of jumping platforms this time for longer support.

Mini may be $399 now, but I'll bet it's around $250 for the Christmas sales and after. Pretty sure the last one was, too. In fact, I should check the clearance price of the previous model, now.
