Never fully trusted Chrome because, well, Google.... so I stayed on Firefox when everyone else was demanding I move to Linux and Chrome... I've been happy so far.

Re: Firefox 67 claimed to be "up to 80pc faster than a year ago"

Firefox has some fantastic features and is on par with Chrome in almost every way. Except the little things. Firefox interface feels like it was made by developers. Chrome feels more UX driven. And as a developer myself, I hate saying that, but it's the little things in Chrome that make it hard to move away.

I'm a Brave user myself. Not a fan of Firefox owing to its various idiosyncrasies.

Well, Chrome can't be *that* user experience driven considering they *still* don't hightlight the current address in the address bar so you can just start typing without having to clear the text first. I've reported this numerous times but have never even got an acknowledgement.

FWIW, I'm on Waterfox for the simple reason that I don't like the dumbed down Chrome wannabe interface of Firefox Quantum.

If everyone you know is telling you to move to Linux and Chrome, everyone you know is a real dumb.
The common suggestion is Linux and Firefox.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand cue loads of long lectures from highly experienced IT/Dev types and/or hyperintelligent overintellectual overeducated smart people who know way more about it than, probably, everyone on here combined, to the point where something like updating drivers or installing watercooling is 'too simple' for them to understand.

Match their opinions against my insistence on choosing Firefox because the logo colours are pretty and foxes are cute....
I'm not only a flippant little sausage on the forum, you know!

I don't quite get what you mean by this. If I hit alt+d and type it highlights and overwrites the current address just fine. Are you suggesting that typing on a non-form element it should assume that the user wants to overwrite the current address?

Quick example to reproduce: Set your Chrome home page to 'about:blank' and close the browser. Start it again and the address bar will display 'about:blank' (as expected, with the browser showing a blank page) with the cursor placed just before the 'a' in 'about'. Now type. Since 'about:blank' isn't highlighted said text isn't replaced with what you type (resulting in eg. www.hexus.netabout:blank).

Been complaining about this for years via the built-in feedback tool and nothing has happened. No other browser behaves this daft. At least, I haven't found any except Chrome.

BTW, the citation marks above are just for emphasis.
