I thought the whole debate about freesync vs g-sync was that freesync could never handle refresh rates that high.

At least, that was what Nvidia said when people were questioning the $400 g-sync board

Low response times with IPS isn't achievable currently at this price point. It's not uncommon for gaming monitors to be TN panels; though would love to see more development in that area!
