"We were surprised at how much faster it is in the HandBrake test, which is consistent over three runs."
The difference is ~3%
"Switching gears to gaming, yup, having 32GB of 3,200 CL14 is the way to go for better performance. "
Again, ~3%
Also
"With memory prices becoming more palatable in recent months - you can get a non-RGB kit of 16GB DDR4-3600 memory for <£100 - you are looking at a minimum of £150 for this particular Neo set."
You can literally get 3600 Corsair RGB for ~£100
I got 32 Gb of the classic "F4-3600C18D-16GTZRX" flavor, shooting for 64 GB in this system as i have been doing 32GB since DDR2.
Fortunately prices on these take a tumble once a month and drop from the APPROX norm price of 1100 DKkr and can currently be had for 873 DKkr.
I will have to wait for next price disruption as i have a 5700XT on preorder and want to pay that first, and then we will see what kind of money are in surplus in my piggy bank after that.
Is the RGB on this one as utterly borked as previous Trident incarnations?

Also, the likelihood is that the increase in RAM will benefit many tasks if you are that kind of user / abuser of computers so, unlike a GPU upgrade which is pretty much a one trick pony, you get extra pony-power for general use as well as gaming.
This is why I'm holding out on my next upgrade as I currently run 24GB of DDR3 and it's expensive to just match that with DDR4.
I have decided my PC is going to go out in a blaze of glory as almost everything is going to have to be changed for the next upgrade so this weekend I'm going to see how far Haswell will go. I suspect actually not much further than I've already pushed it... I'm even going to have to change out the watercooler next time as, looking at forums, the model I have tends to start failing in decent quantities around the 5 year mark, although the manufacturers don't specify a MTBF. I suppose that's the downside of AIOs - you have to replace it all when it's just one component that's reach that special age.
Did you know that 15% of internet traffic is about cats?
I think I took too many painkillers.
EDIT: Also, I fully intend on physically disabling any RGB on my RAM. I DO NOT WANT A GAY PRIDE PC THAT LOOKS LIKE A UNICORN ON ACID.

Seriously though, I'd just make the LEDs an optional clip on extra. Then those who want them can pay extra and those who don't.... don't. Just like they did with those stupid extra fans for the Dominator series.
My car doesn't come with extra fancy bling. I have to add that if I want it because all it does is put up the cost for the majority who don't need/want/care.
Neither is mine - It's more of an 80s spaceship computer, of the kind that tends to boldly go...
I could suggest that about half the useless gubbins that comes with my motherboard and other components, yet I still have to fork out full price for stuff I have no use for...
Actually, most cars do come with bling these days, although they try to pretend it's merely the intended 'design aesthetic', but I'd hesitate to regard most of them as fancy... More like hideous.
In many cases, especially the interiors, they're precisely why I choose to stick with my WW2-era pile of junk Škoda...!
Same for the PC - It took ages just to find a case design I could tolerate, so the tactful application of tasteful LEDs is one step closer to something I can enjoy and one further away from being told what I must have by corporate marketing.
But to keep it on topic, I've known several people buy and try RGB Trident for the same ^reason, only to find it doesn't play nice with many of the common motherboards.

No chance. I'll run mine into the ground. Cars with bling can sod off. It's more stuff to break.
As for PC cases, I bought a big one that was easy to work on and had load of space in it. It has a window. It sits under my desk with the window facing the wall. Some bits inside glow. I dislike this, but I can't see it in use. It can be useful diagnostically when something fails and you're trying to rule out power failure.
I much prefer the interior of an old Landrover than some posh, pretentious rubbish. My missus has a Fiesta. It was second hand and cheap. We collectively earn a lot of money but there is no chance we are spending money on a posh car we don't need. Our friends have posh Landrovers or BMWs or Audis.... Her Dad owns a reasonably posh Jag. I've never felt the desire to own any of those cars or anything similar.
Yorkshireman here, by the way.
Don't know how you got over 7100 in all the Cinebench R20 tests. I have exact same processor and motherboard and RAM at 3466 (14-15-15-30-CR2) and I only get about 6800 in it. Mine should be as fast or faster. Unless you are overclocking the 3900X somehow more than mine is (stock cooler + PBO on)
stock cooler might be your issue (as would wider case cooling). Ryzen clocks depending on the cooling solution ie thermally checks itself to make sure all is within the envelope. So if they have a better cooler, better cooled VRMs on the motherboard etc it is feasible they will run faster.
i purchased this RAM and very pleased with it
Fascinating that the lower system latency of the 3600 16cl was slower then 3200 ram, should of resulted in faster performance
