Not bad, something like this might extend the lifetime of LCD televisions.

someone else was showing this type of tech earlier in the year (think it might have been Hisense) where the mono panel was 1080p behind a 4k panel. Didn't look as fat as this.

Hmmm, I always find it amusing when they show us pictures of how amazing a screen is with it's huge con....trast ratio and wide colour space. And I'm viewing it on a monitor that's so cheap and terrible there's no way I can tell that this monitor is amazing.

Yes dual layer LCD has been demoed by other LCD makers too however this tech is quite expensive, has very high power consumption too to the point it may break home TV power regulations, the panasonic prototype unit has a lot of fans cooling it.

Interesting tech that hopefully comes to the consumer market.

This is an interesting technology, but no matter the innovation with LCD panels, they never seem to address what for me is the worst weakness. Motion Blur. I will never own an LCD panel TV until motion blur is resolved. The current technology of adding in frames causes the picture to seem fake, and negates all of the other innovations. Just my two cents.

"Unfortunately, no one can be told what the Matrix is. You have to see it for yourself."
Agree, that's always a tough sell for any screen.
