How much real world benefit is there from going from a 2666 kit to 4700 though?

    How much? For 16 GB?
I confess I've been out of the market for a while, but that is insane pricing.

In some things you'll see a small increase whilst in others, none whatsoever. All depends on how the application/game in question has been designed.

..It's all marketed at those with an insatiable dseire to have the fastest, no matter the cost, in their PC's.

Re: Corsair releases 16GB 4,866MHz Vengeance LPX DDR4 memory kit

Surely that will just mess up the Fclk divider.

To say I got 64GB 3200mhz stuff for nearly a third of the price and it runs at 3600mhz this seems a little pricey.

Re: Corsair releases 16GB 4,866MHz Vengeance LPX DDR4 memory kit

That price is silly, you can get 16GB of 4800Mhz CL18 for £500 so that means they want an extra £400 for 66Mhz.

very helpful if you have several graphic cards for content creation........faster RAM is helpful if you have a Quadro and other cards hooked up?

Isn't there a 'sweet spot' with ryzen processors though where you need to match the memory speed to something on the cpu (think it's infinity fabric).

From what I've seen that can have a small impact on overall performance.

Not that I'd ever be this stupid with ram and I'd personally prefer them to be doing more with 16GB sticks instead of constantly focusing on 8GB sticks..

Up to ~3.7 Gt/s (IIRC) the infinity fabric will run at RAM transfer speed, above that it can't keep up so decouples. The sweet spot is there, up to that speed faster RAM speeds up the whole CPU data bus, but paying extra for RAM faster than that doesn't get you more infinity fabric speed
