In my world a "couple" means two, not three and a half.
I'll be sticking with Windows 7 for the forseeable future anyway.
7 is certainly the new XP, I do remember in my last place of work They upgraded to 7 as 8.1 was released, always 2 steps behind.
I'm with 7 and am missing out on all the update crashes & freezes.
Did you know that DX12 come to Win7 if you have 64 bit ?
My Windows machines are staying with W7 indefinitely.
That said, I applaud MS for extending Security updates, and there's no reason not to expect a fee for it. So, well, done MS.
Still sticking with 7 for legacy machines (and Linux for current ones) so I won't be taking them up on ESU, as I don't need to fix what in my case ain't broke. But well done.
Windows has certainly gone a long way. Unfortunately, for me, in entirely the wrong direction.
It's like getting on a train for Brighton only to find yourself on a pretty, slick, pretty well-engineered high speed train which, though very nice, is an express to Glasgow. While Glasgow is n7ce enough (I'm told) it's not much use when the things I aant to do are in Brighton.
Metaphors aside, W7 has it's problems but my usage is unchanged and it's been a good 10 years since my OS issue with 7, which is more than I can say for W10.
It's horses for courses. My horse doesn't have 10 written on it.
I'm actually thinking of downgrading back to windows 7, windows 10 is just not right for me.
Moved main rig to Windows 10 this weekend (had done it when it was free but rolled back to Windows 7), first thing i did was make it look and feel like 7 in a lot of places (OpenShell ftw) but I'll be keeping 7 on one of my two laptops (the other is a dell d630 running Mint) It doesn't run games; just used to browse the web and program kit via serial port etc so no need for 10 on it.
Really wish they hadn't gone the route they have with future versions of 10, i understand why; its still troubling.
