Why would i pair/ sync my phone with my computer, the 2 have absolutely nothing to do with each other.
Other than E mail and i am okay with having that in 2 places, and its sure as hell not something i need synced up.
But maybe people that work on a computer, so they can take their work with them home on the phone,,,,, wait that's also no good working all the time, not least not getting paid for that.
SO,,,,,,, Pass.
This is really useful for Home workers like me... being able to take calls hands-free is useful when collaborating with others, as is viewing & responding to SMS messages via the full-sized keyboard. The recent photos functionality is also quite handy... so all in all, I've been quite impressed with the "Your Phone" app and Microsoft's symbiotic tie-up with Android in recent times.

Don't see a need in this aspect personally and as much as I like the idea for text messaging because it seems that the app routes stuff through their server backend (servers went down a while back and my phones stopped working) I won't be linking it up for that either.... there is absolutely no need for this when in most cases it will be connecting over the same wifi network.
Here is an amateur video of the Call feature being used:

gets a big thumbs down from me too
It's something I could make use of, especially since my phone tends to sit in a pocket which is hard to reach when sat down. I'd also have to take off my headset and likely pause my game, assuming I even heard the phone or felt it vibrate. By contrast, we already have Skype calls on desktop and WhatsApp for texting, so putting that and whatever else into a desktop app makes sense. Even better if the phone rings in my headphones instead, as it won't wake the kiddie up.
Plus, as Kilti said, hands free is useful. I can no longer shoulder-cradle a phone due to various injuries, so another plus there.
If they can get everything working well, I'd certainly look into it.

I could see me using it when I'm on a customer site and don't want use the phone headset. But we using LTSC so it isn't going to be for a long time...
I don't know whether this app in particular is worth it, but to answer your question - for partial backup purposes. Plus it's possible you may find it quicker and easier to send a long text by typing it up on your PC keyboard than phone's virtual keyboard.
MyPhoneExplorer has been very handy for a number of years in my opinion.
I will say I use the whatsapp desktop app while working all the time so this will just further that and be quite helpful, with that I am self employed so can install what I want.

Be Careful on the Internet! I ran and tackled a drive by mining attack today. It's not designed to do anything than provide fake texts (say!)
The site, or application itself?
If the former, it loads for me. If the latter, in what way did it not work?
The official download can be found at https://www.fosshub.com/MyPhoneExplorer.html and you would need to install the Android app of the same name to complement it (which can be found on the Google Play Store, but there's also a link to download the apk on the developer's regular download page at https://www.fjsoft.at/en/downloads.php).

I’ve been able to do this for a while using iOS/OSX (as well as syncing contacts etc)
It can be quite useful if the phone isn’t to hand and you are working on a laptop or desktop.

In that case, I'm not sure what to suggest on how to resolve it. I haven't got a phone with higher than 7.1 at the moment. It may be worth posting in the forum at https://www.fjsoft.at/forum/ (there's a section specifically for English posts) - although there may be answers to the same issue already posted there.
