If only you could buy these sorts of high end kits in the UK, they announced 3600Mhz CL14 something like 4 months ago and it's never been available in the UK.
My 3000MHz CL15 are getting older... This 4000MHz CL14 would be a good jump for next year upgrade ;-)
I bought Team Vulcan 3600 CL19 and although it is *supposed* to be samsung B die I had a little trouble with the kit so far. I need to try it on it's own but everything is working!

I remember the days of DDR and 2.5-3-3-7 timings, still have my OCZ premium ( with the cobber heat-sink )
First RAM i got with overclocking in mind, but i was overclocking on CPU's before that.
Since then timings on ram have been a disappointment, and this are too though it is faster than what i got.
BTW as i recall smaller sticks of RAM you could get with even faster timings back then.
The tech works similarly actually and in fact in general stuff still keeps getting faster, no matter what the numbers are saying to you. Just make sure you set the timing to 1T in the Bios as that means faster * 2 for some less common memory operations.

Timings are measured in clock cycles and not actual time, i'd assume your old chips were ddr 400, these are 4000, assume there isn't any extra trickery in the clock speed (200MHz vs 2GHz) these chips are running at 10x the cycle rate. So in raw time CL15 on the new chips is the same as CL1.5 on your old chips. Or the other way round your old chips are effectively CL25 at this speed. No improvement aye ?
My point is on your old sticks the difference between CL2, 2.5 and 3 is much greater than the CL 14-18 we have these days

Yeah don't worry guys, i have learned to ignore RAM timings a long time ago,nowadays i only think of it in retro perspective.
My X399 Aorus extreme happily run my 3600 G skill trident Z RAM (18-22-22-42) as just that, and i haven't even bothered with pushing them higher, and my 1920X i have also just upped to 4GHZ and i have no interest in pushing that further.
There are no real reasons for me to do OC anymore, haven't done that in earnest for years now, my problems are no one make a game i like to put time into, and i don't record enough 4K / 60 footage to have my editing programs make the computer sweat.
I have actually been thinking on getting a NUC for my general computer work and then only when needed fire up the beast, and as it is now the beast would only have to run 10% of my PC time.
My main reason beside my geekness to get the 1920 X CPU was i just had to get a CPU with more cores than my phone, and i was on a 10 core phone when i got the parts for the current PC.
DDR4 3200 at CL14 has a latency of 8.75
DDR4 4000 at CL15 has a latency of 7.50
Does it make a user noticeable difference though?

Yeah.
In the old days ( when a CPU bordering 1 GHZ was like DUUUUUUDE ) you could get your games to run a little better with some OC, so you strapped a GFD to your CPU to unlock the multiplier and off you went.
Today it seem like CPU don't matter all that much, hell have they even gotten around to make games that use all the cores on ones CPU.
Anyway i am now on a pension, so i cant afford the annual / biannual hardware upgrade, i still haven't gotten all the stuff i want to cram into this one, still lack 32GB of RAM, and i want to retire my Lian li case and build a extended H2O system.
And from my quick calculations, just new fans - radiators - hardtube + fittings and the materials i need to make the changes inside the case will run me +400 GBP, and the case i have chosen to work with will set me back 180 GBP and i probably need another 180 GBP for overhead and nick nacks.
