While your experiences seem to be different, there do seem to be others that have had complaints with the controller. This seems to be why they are addressing quality as a perk for the 2nd controller in the video. Personally when I splurge I may get impressed for a couple of days and then it loses its special touch. Sometimes expensive products seem to have their own set of issues where you don't exactly get what you pay for. I'd kind of like another controller, but I'm sure as hell not spending that amount on one. I mostly use mouse and keyboard though.

Yeah there is no doubt that there were some well publicised issues with the elite, but there are issues with any product you tend to only hear about problems via the media and not the thousands of people who have no issues at all. Wait until Black Friday you might be able to pick one up for a reasonable price or even buy an elite 1 they will be dirt cheap now and they are still brilliant controllers imho

I've heard it still uses the same glue as the first elite controller for the rubber grip, and considered the rubber grip extends now around the controller, it will start to warm up and may come off or move around like before :S

The things that make this a controller not purchase are obviously the increased price, also the grips now have even more coverage that may peel off just like the Elite v1 controller I do own which I got cheaper due to some voucher codes I was given at the time. The other massive problem with this new product is going to be the battery being non removable. With my Elite v1 I have 4 rechargable batteries, two that are in the controller and two always on charge. When this new controller runs out of juice you are not going to be able to use it for an extended period of time whilst the battery gets recharged.

For me when the version one elites go for really cheap prices I will buy one of those instead as it is a good controller with a nice weight and feel to it, thats only let down by the rubber grips eventually falling off about 6mths to a year after purchase. My current controller I cut the stretched grip and superglued it back onto the controller.

The Elite 1, as a professional gamer grade product, wasn't wholly a success. The sticks, triggers, paddles etc were and still are excellent. The use of rubber was a wholesale failure.

I might get to play an hour most evenings, and a decent sesh with the lads on a Friday night. But still, the rubberised grips started peeling off. I've used a fair amount of super glue to get them back on. Only it's impossible to get them stuck back to factory levels. So now there's lumps and bumps all over. Also, the rubber has split and fallen off on the stick I'd been using for my left thumb. pfft.

Let's see if their new "wrap around rubber textured grips" works better.

I bought the original elite controller, the rubber grips peeled off and the left bumper button snapped, both turned out to be common problems with them so I replaced it with a wolverine tournament edition and never looked back (I play rocket league in high rank games so my controller gets very heavy usage). This 2nd version looks like it hasn't had any improvements in the how the rubber grips are glued on either, I'd be tempted if the issues are fixed but not sure I can trust them after the first one.

I decided to dish out when they were on sale last year, I returned it as it really wasn't a great experience.

I have the old wired MS 360 one for PC, myself, as a few games work better with it.
However, a friend of mine did get the Elite and so I've spent some time with it. It's certainly very nice...! Not sure it's worth the full £100 he paid for it, as I don't personally like controllers and don't need one enough to spend more than (IIRC) £20 on one. But I'd not turn an Elite one down if it was offered, either.

Also, said friend is a mechanic and usually has hands covered in new oil, filthy old oil, molybdenum grease, silicone grease, copperslip, ATF, road filth, dirt, gunk and Lord knows what else... His controller is still in very good condition.

£160, it had better be good as I'm in the market for my aging 360 wired controller, I will wait for Ride 4 before treating myself.
