Looks like a whole bunch of people just had their summer holiday plans cancelled.

More time for people to realise it really isn't that exciting... graphics are great n'all but every single gameplay demo has been so lackluster. Just another rpg (weirdly limited to 1st person) with a shiny skin on it.

Anyone else see that boss fight video that got posted a while back? Super-dull

You mean it's not a first person shooter? Thank goodness. It looks very exciting to me, but then I probably value different things to you.

How can you possibly determine whether the game play is going to be dull, based of a video?...

Depends what you see in the video and what you're looking for in a game...
I saw one demo and noticed it has some kind of x-ray vision, and magic-tech bullets that go round corners - Two things that immediately sounds like utter feldercarb to me and I lost interest from that point on, in the same way I would if you showed me a fantasy game where the swords are five times as big as the characters!

Sure, it looks pretty standard for a boss fight: hit the glowing thing for massive damage. But was there anything particularly remarkable about TW3 boss fights? The game had to have them, but it wasn't really about them and boss fights weren't the things that stuck in your memory.

In any case, I'd be surprised if it's like that from beginning to end. It's likely that demo was representing an early stage. Perhaps later, in the same way you used to research potions and oils, it will become necessary to discover which skills to boost and combine for a particular enemy.

Re: Cyberpunk 2077 release date delayed to 17th Sept 2020

After the amount of titles released by other companies and publishers that haven't been polished and had tons of bugs last year, I'd rather developers took a longer time to iron out kinks for release. Not an issue.

    Agreed.

If I had to put my trust in anybody in the gaming industry it'd be CDPR.

Re: Cyberpunk 2077 release date delayed to 17th Sept 2020

@CD Projekt Red: Please, take your time - make a game you, yourselves will be just as proud of (and rightly so) as your previous The Witcher 3 (and 2 and 1). Do that and it will sell well. Guaranteed.
...then, sometime hopefully not too far off, give us another Witcher - Netflix is helping here immensely (yes, you'll likely need to extend from the books...no issue there though).

Re: Cyberpunk 2077 release date delayed to 17th Sept 2020

It sucks that the devs will have to crunch super hard (they probably had to crunch to get to the point they realized the game needs to be delayed) so I feel their pain. I hope all their effort pays out and that Cyberpunk is a knockout success for them when it does release.

Re: Cyberpunk 2077 release date delayed to 17th Sept 2020

When I was an active member of the Paradox Interactive forums, I remember what that dev said about release dates of patches and new games, when people get impatient; "It's done when it's done.". I personally like that attitude.

I'll probably be playing it sometime in 2021.... it's not exactly top of my list. Although in the last Steam sale giveaway (the race one), a lot of winners got that free. I was in the pig team, so we never won anything.

I never did complete Witcher 3, probably because at the time I wanted to play them in order of release, and gave up on Witcher 2 five hours into the game. I did start playing Witcher 3 a few times, but never got hooked. And I gave up on it last time because I tried to fight some ambush between missions and constantly was getting killed (think that was why I gave up on 2 as well). Might have to give it a go again at some point, when I got another 100 hours or so to spare!

I might also finally complete the "new" Deus Ex games before I get Cyberpunk, just to get into the mood. First one i got pretty far on PS3 years ago, but never completed it...

They shouldn't even bother with a release date. It's done when they say it is. Thankfully I trust CDPR not to do an Anthem.
