Nice. Just needs thunderbolt, but guess that'll have to wait for the 5000.

I'd like a version with the H series instead of the U series.

If you look carefully at the photo, the front USB type C socket has the Thunderbolt logo next to it, although Thunderbolt isn't mentioned in the specification, oddly enough...

I think that's a logo for a 'fast charging port' rather than Thunderbolt because it lacks the downwards pointing arrow.

See the table at the bottom of the page, TB and fast charge are at the bottom of the table; https://www.kensington.com/news/dock...c-demystified/

I'm sure they won't be able to say it's thunderbolt without paying Intel vast sums of money. So others could say it's "thunderbolt compatible" maybe?

Thunderbolt is included in the USB 4 standard for free by Intel so NO they did not have to pay Intel extra.

Not including Thunderbolt in USB 4 for free by Intel would have meant the end of Thunderbolt, it would just have faded away much like firewire did.

Re: Asus launches PN50 mini PCs with AMD Ryzen 4000U processors

The entry, featuring an unknown Microsoft device, featured test results of a system powered by an AMD Ryzen 7 4800U.

So might not be a Surface Laptop, given its already got AMD flavours its the most likely, however the Laptop could also be Microsoft dipping their toes into the AMD pool, so it could be something that's due for a refresh, it wouldn't surprise me if Microsoft had several devices based on AMD, the Studio is probably due a refresh as is the Pro, be nice to think it could be something other than the Laptop...

Ah yes, you're right...they really should differentiate their logos a bit better!

There is never enough usb ports on these things. At a minimum there should be another 2 USB A on the back and one in the front. Another USB c on the front and back would also be good. I don't want to have a USB hub for tidyness purposes.

Another thing I dislike is that they never have mini jack for speakers on the back anymore so they look untidy.

That's the one thing my Hades Canyon NUC has going for it, 9 USB ports (including 3 type C ports)

Re: Asus launches PN50 mini PCs with AMD Ryzen 4000U processors

I was seriously considering upgrading my Hades Canyon to one of these until I realised it wouldn't work with my eGPU enclosure because it doesn't have Thunderbolt

AMD/Intel have hung us Hades Canyon owners out to dry over integrated graphics drivers, and it sucks
