disappointing it's a DC in port for power not USB C. Apart from that looks quite tasty

Why? Still most stuff comes with usb-2 like webcams, music stuff, keyboards and mice.
usb-2 and especially in type-a format is going nowhere for many years. In fact I have some new (in the last year) stuff that does not like being connected to usb-3

You might need to change those devices. NOTHING... and I mean nothing at all, in work, has had an issue with usb 3. On any machine.
Tis music stuff to be fair and they are well old in specifications... and a fair bit niche. But still they don't like usb-3
