I'd like to know why EVGA has all but abandoned the UK market in the last 2yrs, and on a side note, really bummed about the USB-C ports going on these 30xx cards, the one on my 2080 was good for charging my phone! seeing as my Fractal Meshify C case, doesn't have a USB-C port.
Every macbook has come with such a lead for at least the last two years - the power adaptors are just 3 pin to USB-C then you use a USB-C to USB-C lead from the plug to the laptop, which is handy for charging your phone instead if you need it, so yeah, I've got several such leads lying around which I don't mind being able to use from a PC as well.
It will be the cost of EVGA doing business in Europe impacting their bottom line, things like imports, regulation and consumer protection. EVGA make good products but I feel they have lost their way with the added customer service they used to be known for e.g. the 'Step Up Programme' is basically rigged against offering any real value by how what & when they choose to release products
With you on that one. It makes it a hell of a lot simpler and it's a shame they're on on these cards.
"We like that EVGA restrains the form factor to what it describes as a 2.2-slot affair."
I don't get this, how is this advantageous to anybody? Slots work in integer values, you either use a slot, or you don't. 2.2 is still taking up 3 slots which renders usually your next PCIe x16 slot inoperable.
If you're going to go into 3 slots, make use of it and beef up the heatsink.
Can we get anything that spills over into the third slot labelled with a con in reviews?
Having a useful PC that can game on is getting harder and harder these days with stuff like this. Cards all take up extra slots, and cases increasingly come without even a single 5.25" - which means they can put in more LEDs, but come on! We're not all teenagers.
Not just there. My mother recently got a 2019 Merc a200, the usb ports in front and back are C ports. I've used USB C on my phone for 3 or 4 years now so have a few c to c cables in use in various places. It seems to be replacing the usual A to C system. In general I think that's a good thing, cables fit both directions, smaller heads make it easier to thread etc.
I think the fact there's a few more USB C monitors around now makes it a bit more surprising that it's been dropped.
I bought one of these - GPUz says it maxes at 340 watts. Wow
Society's to blame,
Or possibly Atari.
Got a new 3XS system coming this week with one of these cards, cannot wait to start gaming on the big screen !!
