No good if you can't buy it - which you really can't!

Still hearing most places have a single digit percentage fulfilment rate
Old puter - still good enuff till I save some pennies!

Would love one but can't buy it anywhere.
Not prepared to wait in some ridiculous preorder queue for one either when the same online stores are holding back a lot of cards they do get, for their own system builds which are massively overpriced.

Nvidia and all their partners should just sell direct and cut out all these price gouging online stores along with all their tomfoolery !

Nice review though, really would jump on that card if it was available.

This is exactly what I would do if was Nvidia. Sell through its own site by listing partner cards along with FE.

30xx cards only exist in a quantum state, in perpetual flux in between existing and not

Re: MSI GeForce RTX 3070 Gaming X Trio

The paper launch comment really does hit home.

They have rushed this out. The partners have had limited time to prep their designs, leading to silly issues which never should have been. All whilst Nvidia have had plenty of time (and an embargo advantage) to sort their own cards.

This is clearly the sweet spot for power consumption V performance. It's pretty sweet indeed. But, the launch is only there to get the reviews out before AMD release theirs. More and more it appears to be a launch of desperation, having seen what AMD has dealt to Intel and not wanting to be the next target.

I remember what has happened to Intel with their paper launches. They advertise just what amazing performance you can get, they make people want it with marketing and push them up the product stack from mid range to wanting a high end chip and then..... they find they can't have it. But they want it. They want the performance your marketing has told them they need. AMD has stock of similarly performing silly cone. So they start considering an AMD build. They find the reviews, the board prices, the socket stability, the PCI-e 4.0 and they go.... maybe I will try AMD this time.

Nvidia is doing the same. You want and NEEEEEED this performance. But only our competitor has stock of anything close.

They'll figure it out soon. Most people don't care for supporting a particular brand, except in very specific circumstances (this car's safety features saved my life, I won't buy anything else. This company really helped me out when I was out of warranty and a part failed, they saved my business...etc). For gaming, we'll buy whatever gives us chooch. There are few opportunities in leisure to really win brand loyalty. We'll also hold bad business practice against companies. Because we're bats turds.

They would not want to perform worldwide distribution and selling, that is a bonkers suggestion. The amount of time and money that goes into worldwide logistics is insane, that and they'd have to gouge by nature to overcome inter-country freight duty and tax laws.

It's ok when you're only selling a few hundred and your customers can soak up the duty and tax but when you're shipping tens of thousands, you have to look into freight and distribution.

    Silly suggestion from all perspectives.

Got to agree, a nuts suggestion at best. They would have been far far better getting decent amounts of cards instead of trying to pre-empt the competition. Mind you not going with Samsung after you've annoyed the best fab would have been an even better start...

I'm not so sure, having complete control over your production and distribution "in-house" is always going to lead to synergies and cost savings. It also gives more finite control over who gets the end product.

However with that said, Nvidia is not at the same level as companies like Amazon / Apple in terms of capability, they're currently incapable of that level of integration.

You could have complete control and you could have "synergies" and "cost savings"...but not when your distribution is a one trick pony, you would have to be shifting many metric tons per pallet.

How is the VRAM usage on these cards though? 8GB really do seem to be a bit low for 2020 and going forward.
