And 'full support' for the PS5 controller has now arrived (LED, trackpad, rumble and gyro).

I would like to see this broken down by age.

What's age got to do with it? Surely it's more about what kind of games you have on steam - driving and arcade games are better suited to controllers than isometric RPGs for eg.

Uhm Keyboard and Mouse is also controllers, I do got a full HOTASS system as well and a flight yoke and even a couple of joypads.

They are all usefull controllers which I use for things where they seem like the best solution, what about it really?

VR and 4K is still sort of a myth.

The same way RAM and SSD are both classified as storage and memory?

It's the accepted applied use of terminology, you're not wrong that a mouse and keyboard are controllers, they're just contextually controllers in the accepted sense.

Well, I'm old. I use a controller for racing games / RPG titles like Batman / Darksiders etc.

I'm not entirely sure what age has to do with it? I'd guess it is more dependent on the type of game and control system best suited to the game itself. Don't get me wrong, my keyboard and mouse are exceptional in the games I use them for, but again that is down to the game and control system best suited to the game itself.

Certainly nothing to do with age.

I use keyboard and mouse for shooters/stratgy games, controller for driving games or anything that requires more analog/measured inputs.

Might affect the figures with some of the more popular FPS / MOBA games are being pulled back into publisher specific launchers. Makes sense for a lot of games to be tailored to work well with controllers or they wouldn't be enjoyable on consoles!

I used to use keyboard mouse exclusively when playing on PC but for the past 6 years have used mainly a controller on PC, I'm 50 but as said elsewhere age is not the only factor in this sort of choice (for me I have back issues).

Prefer controllers for FPS, 3rd person, platformers.

Plenty of games aren't viable like RTS, MMOs.

And I'm 40+ But I don't do multiplayer so being ultra-accurate isn't a concern. And yes I do turn controller aim assist off

I've hooked up a controller a few times, but on games where I know the keyboard controls already I usually would rather use them. Still, if it helps with back issues I'll have to try again, because my usual posture is slumped over the keyboard and mouse

I'd be really interested to see how well the DS5 integrates with PC games outside of just Steam.

After using the DS4 I'd prefer Sony controllers over Xbox but if there's any faff in getting it to pair or to map controls then I'll have to stick with Microsoft as convenience is key to the reason I use them.

I play lots of single player open world games, so yeah I use a controller. As games like Assassins Creed and RDR2 have gotten so huge and long, I'm not suprised so many people revert to a controller. Of course for anything remotely competitive or first person I use KB+M.

Sadly back issues appear to be different for everyone, I don't think just one thing is the "cure" it is just a case of trying to find what works for you and your situation 🙂

I had a problem with steam + controller. I couldn't configure it properly in Terraria. Not fully custom buttons...
