It's a shame the UK Gov is continuing to do this even though it was sufficiently and readily admitted it was due to to Trump administration pressure. In the report regarding Huawei equipment they said they were a risk due to shoddy engineering and slow to resolve but none of the issues weren't work around-able. Considering Telecoms equipment and switching is on a very heavily isolate and monitoring private network fabric, external intrusion is extremely unlikely and even dialling out from within is extremely unlikely.

But the UK Gov is on a windrush of great decisions right now so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Talking of Huawei and diversification, at least now the UK Government has recognised that relying on just a few vendors to supply the kit for the networks represents a risk moving forward (as seen already with Huawei). Baby steps I guess;
